    Fork Swap 1984 ATC 200ES

    Hey guys,
I have a 1984 ATC 200ES big red and the shocks are just destroyed from neglect from Previous owner. In doing some research on here looks to be common on the the old reds. I just picked up a decent fork and shock set from a 83 200M and wanted to put it on. Problem is looks like my axle and hub assembly is different from the 200M. the 200m is threaded on one end and threads into the shock the 200es uses a nut on one end and appears to be thicker. Just wondering what parts I'll still need to make it work. I'm hoping I can just get a 200m axle and the 200m brake assembly will work with th 200es drum. the brake assembly is there but no hub or axle. There's a decent 200S hub assembly with axle i can get my hands on but again from reading on here it looks to short?

outer width of the shock axle mounts is 16 3/8
inner width of the shock axle mounts is 13 3/8
narrowest spot on shock tubes for wheel width clearance is 12 1/4

I contacted the guy that has the 200s complete hub and he says the axle length is 16". My trike is in storage for the winter can anybody tell me the length of the 200es front axle?

The 200es front axle is 17inch I have a 200es and doing the same I have bought 200m forks for it looks like the 200es front brake drum fits perfect with the 200m axle and forks I will have it put together soon so will no more and I think the 200s has a smaller wheel

the 200s has the axle behind the forks so shorter wheel base and small tire, smaller triple clamp as well. I put a 83 200m front end I bought complete on ebay on my 84 200es, very nice! only cons, 83 200m is slightly different than 84-85 200m so by careful with finding parts, and no good front racks for the 200m, got to go custom. 200m front end is a great swap for the 200es, but not to many left in this world

    What's the difference between '83 and '84/'85?

you also have to use the 200m front fender which is near impossible to locate.

finally have all the parts needed for this. my 84 200es hub, brake drum, and brake panel are different than the 82-83 200m and 200e and 200es. if i had all the wheel parts for my 84es im sure it would have worked but the brake panel was so seized on i couldn't get it off without cutting it off. also the clip holding the brake cable was busted so no good anyway. ive sourced an entire 200m hub assembly off ebay. the 84 plus bikes seem to use an aluminum brake panel and the drum assembly bolts on. the older 200m and 200e is steel and the drum. should be good to go.

There is no such thing as a 1983 200M. It was produced from '84-'85
