The fenders are Maier low profile 83/84's. My Maier regular fenders for this the seat sits about the same on. I thought the one was a NASA by going off of adds in my mags. I will use that axle.

Been getting lots of the small stuff refinshed and cleaned up. I bought a bunch of 1st gen 250R stuff this past weekend and got some of the little stuff I needed for this as well as a full 81 swinger set up for the 81 I am redoing right now, it had an 82 rear in it. I will try and post some pics tonight.

Got the forks rebuilt and some other stuff done.

I had to braze a few little rust holes on the seam, mud was left caked on for 30 years. The pipe was so full of oil I had to burn it out, guy always ran 20:1. Yea I am brazing with a cutting torch handle, with propane also, thats how I roll.

    Here is the 81.

    Turned out real nice.

I have been working on this every free moment I can. Got some more stuff cleaned and refinshed. Got the rear brake all rebuilt and ready to go on. I may just fix my foot pegs rather than buy more right now. I have rebuilt some in the past with good results.

Still been super cold here highs in the teens, and it is snowing like crazy out right now.

Over the last 2 days we got about 8 inchs of snow. I got the engine done tonight. Got the shift shaft changed. I also had to fix the drain plug, I went to take it out to drain the oil before removing the side cover and it was JB welded in. It had some real faint threads but not enough to tighten properly. Instead of the 12mm it now has a new 14 mm plug, turned out real nice. I also had a NOS heavy duty clutch kit with monster springs so that got put in. The springs are about 3/8 of an inch longer than stock and at least double the size of the coils. They are even bigger than like barnett HD springs. Hopefully it won't be to bad to pull the clutch. I like the feel of the HD springs I have them in some other trikes, just not this heavy of springs. Engine is all buttoned up and ready to get cleaned up for paint. I have a few pics of some of the other stuff also I will try and post them later.

With work and stuff it took me all day Saturday to get the engine ready for paint. Painted it late that night. looked really good when I got done, it is a ceramic high temp low gloss black paint. I got a few sleds yesterday in on trade I need to move around and then gonna get some done on this.
Engine is done, new HD clutch, new seals, new drain plug and retapped case, all the correct bolts, and a few other things. There are no blotches or hazy spots inbeteen the fins or any where else, just the way the camera reflects in the pics. it looks super nice.

I worked on the frame some more . The one frame tube was full of dirt, some how. I got that all out and then had a few pin holes and some more cracks to weld up. If the engine and frame #'s did not match i think I would have just tossed this frame and got a new one.

I meant to put this the other night and forgot, when I got the old paint and grime off the engine on the head it has stamped.

    PSI 5441

If any one knows what this could mean that would be great. I cleaned the letters out real good before painting, so they are easy to see now that it is all redone.

JUST saw this this morning! Where have I been looking lol. Awesome project bud. Love it. I knew the swingarms were different. I have not tried, but do not think there is anything about 83-84 Pro Link that will interchange. Honda actually did a LOT of work for 84. Fork internals were different but probably interchange? . Never quit learning do we! This is turning out great. I know you're having fun. I cannot begin to imagine having your wife help. That is SO cool . Business must have been good this winter? We had a great winter here
Please help those who cannot help themselves.

As far as I can tell between the 83-84 R's the carrier is the same and chain guide, and skid plate even though all mine are trashed. Everything for the pro link and shock are differant, not to say you could not make it work just not right. The 83 shock is much shorter, links are all differant, and the swingarm mounts are in a differant place between the two. My wife is a huge help, she loves trikes also, She has her 86 250SX, her 85 250 ES Big REd, her 81 250R, and a 83 200s that she grew up on. Her dad bought the 200s new and used it on their dairy farm. The only time the 200s was ever crashed she did it, when she was a kid. She was spinning around on a frozen lake and caught some cat tails and flipped it over, all that happend was the bars got bent and a broken lever. Her dad gave it to us years ago, it had sat in a shed since the late 80's.

Your paint job on the motor looks beautiful. What brand of paint is that? It laid on there so smooth based on the pictures. What did you do to prep the engine for paint? Did you paint fully assembled? Beautiful trike man and keep up the progress.

The paint is a ceramic based heat paint, I do not remember the name. lots of prep work, cleaning sanding and wire brushing. I stripped alot of the paint off before I assembled the engine. Lots easier to clean and prep before it is together. The last one I did I painted before assembly and nicked and scuff some stuff, hoping I can get it in the frame all together. I took the other 300 in and out of the 83 250R a few times to make sure I can do it. i might have to take the head back off. Hope not though.

Nice build!! It is very cool the wife helps by polishing parts that is tedious and time consuming as you know.

As far as putting the motor back in the frame, when I put my Ironhead Sportster together I laid the motor down on its side and worked the frame around it then stood it up. This technique worked great and I did not have to tape the cradle or otherwise with no nicks or scratches.
