Talking Taurus 650 Rear Axle Oil Seals

So for anyone that owns a Taurus out there... This should help to shed some light on what will be needed to be done if they need to replace a rear axle seal.

So you will see in the following pictures that you can change out the seals without removing the axle.

    Here are the steps...

First gain access to the seal, clean all exposed surfaces.
Then use a punch and gently dent the seal.
Proceed to slowly and carefully drill two holes in the dents.
Once you have worked your way up from a small bit to one slightly smaller than the width of the seal,
Get a pair of needle nose pliers.
Incert the pliers in the left hole pointing upwars. Your grip handle should be below the axle.
Then push the handle away from you and under the gearbox.
The seal should pop out nicely.
You will notice the right hole you made will fold and collaps helping to remove the seal.
Once the old seal is removed, clean the surfaces in and out of any metal chips, dirt of old oil.
You should then use some sand paper and sand down the rear axle to remove any potential seal/gasket cutting spurs.
Wash clean the axle and slip the new seal on.
Hand press the seal into place to line it up to me ed in.
Push the seal cover sleeve on the axle up to the seal with the large diameter of the sleeve pointing outwards.
With a soft head and your hand holding pressure on the bottom side of the sleeve, gently thd top end in.
Hammer once on top, then bottom... Repeat untill the seal slides into place.
Some tapping on the sides might be required.
Once you have the seal flush with the gealbox wall, you will be done.
Clean the surfaces and reinstall the sleeve the and tire.
Roll the Taurus back and forth to set tue inner seal and you should be done.

Drips be gone! I still have to wait 24 hours to see if it is a complete success.
