250sx or 250 big red for hunting

I have a 1986 250 big red that runs great, in a year or two I am probably going to restore it and make it my hunting rig (mostly adding stuff like a gun boot, good mudding tires and that stuff.) my question is would a 250sx be a better bike fore the job? Iv never drove one but are they better in bad terrain? I never get stranded on my big red. are their many hunters here? and do any of you guys have trikes set up for hunting? or any hunting rigs? pictures? thanks.

I feel the 250ES suits your needs just fine. They are very reliable machines with a lot of torque. For hunting I would prefer the ES over the SX just because it comes standard with racks so you can haul gear out with you. The headlight is also removeable with a (10ft?) Cord. Also the huge hitch on the es could pull hunting shacks and Drag deer and game back to the house.

I hate it when a guy asks me to decide which one I like better!! SX or ES?? Dunno!!

But then it's the reason why I have both...

So the question will be..which one am I in the mood to ride??

Buy an SX and you'll see the torment you are causing..two great machines and only one butt!!

I Hunt with a 84 200ES . Last season it had a tire leak , and didnt want to have a flat in the woods so I took my 85 SX . The SX is set up with both racks and a headlight guard like a BR . I really liked it on the hunt . Starts easy , and fun when not hunting . Im putting together a 85 250ES right now , so I dont know what Im gonna use next ,,, Key is the racks , trunk space , and what you going to use it for when not hunting .

I have never ridden a 250 six but own a 250 BR and I love it for creeping thru woods and up hills. The low range first gear is great when hauling my 250 pound ass up a muddy hill. The big red was made for farm utility which makes it perfect for a hunting rig. Just my two cents.

Properly rigged the SX us every bit the mud-bogging, trail blazing, gear hauling animal the ES is..

Fact is it has the same bones, it's just a bit lighter which give it the advantage when on a winding open trail. It's a bit more responsive to rider body input which is it's sporty creature coming out.

Anyone dismissing it has either never ridden one or hasn't had one properly set up with a good tire combo!

i think i am going to use my ytm200 this year for hunting, its kind of the reason i bought it. i will just load it in my truck and if i shoot a big ol boy i plan to tie a rope to my trailer hitch to drag him out, i shot a 225lb 10 point last year when it was like -15 degrees and it was soooo hard to breath the cold air while dragging him out, thought i was gonna die! lol

    Big Red

I would think that the Big Red would be the better vehicle for hunting. The racks that come standard with it are perfect for hauling things. The tow hitch is a nice asset as well. The 250sx can be made to have the same things but the racks can be hard to find. I have also seen that the sx's are harder to find. I use my Big Red in the woods a lot and it is very nice.
