Aftermarket plastic faded pretty badly..and what is up with the bottom of the tank?? Is it repaired??

Definitely needs further inspection..not out of line if it checks out and the tank isn't all rusted out and repaired.

    The tank looks terrible.

That being said, price a new quad that wont do 1/4 the work that Big Red has done before it needs more than $950 in repairs.

They just don't make 'em like they used to.....

    By the pictures ,,, to much money . I have lived this for a long time . I have a very nice all OEM except for tires 200es . I love it , does all I ask , but I really wanted a 85 - 87 .
After looking at all the mid range priced bikes ,, I bought a basket case for $150 . Figured if I was going to spend 1k plus , at least I would not start out at 900 hundred . The tank is trash , side covers are gone , back plastics ,,, trash . Cables ? Carb ? Dry rot tires ? Thats a $400 bike if it runs .

I paid that same price for this one about 3 months ago. It ran great, plastics had no cracks but were weathered pretty good. No tank dents to mention, and the tank was clean as a whistle inside. The problem was that the original owner had lost his key and wired it up to work without a battery and was kickstart only.

It turned out to be a good find and I made it look pretty good with some work. But to me for that price it should at least have all the original plastic. 600 sounds better to me on that deal.

THanks for the replys all. I have not seen it in person. Its is actually quite far away from me. Was going to have mt father in law go take a look at it for me, but I may just be passing on this one. I found a 1984 200es for sale near me. Hes asking $1200 but willing to negotiate. Looks like it needs tires soon but the rest looks pretty good. THinking about going to look at it and offer something lower than that. http://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/4495389209.html

That 200es looks OK even with distorted pics. Keep in mind there are no aftermarket plastic options for that year if thet're bad. Also the front forks have a nasty habit of a)being seized or, b) sloppy. Rebuildable but basically a poor design.

It seems like the prices cycle up and down, and while that seems generally a little high, considering the going rate for BRs, that's probably not too bad. I'd probably offer $700 and see what happens. I think the 86 is a much better choice in general than the 84 200es.

Thanks all, I am going by today to take a look at it, sounds like it is a nice older couple, we will see how much they are willing to negotiate. I will keep everything you told me in mind!
