    These quads aren't new, they have been on the market a long time, maybe 10 years or so, even the fuel injection started in '09( I think). They do run lean from the factory but are still very usable in that condition. Sounds like you need to take it to another dealer that knows a little more about 450's.

    If you aren't getting any help at the dealerships, try taking to to a well know performance shop, that is good with "drivability issues" and tuning. They can put it on a dyno and monitor everything. If they find something that needs attention, they can address it. No matter what they find, but especially if they are able to make it run better, I'd go back to the dealer with the receipt and the shop's findings and request they pay for said shop's services.

    I had the dealership install a PC5 today and its still crapping out on the bottom end. When I rev it then left off the throttle it backfires now lol!

    Hey fox, been watching this thread. I bought the first year yfz, 04. The header pipe glowing is perfectly normal and the "bog" you are experiencing is normal as well. These bikes are an out of the box racer and are not meant to be putted around on. They are for buying and ing the throttle off the line. I've watched your vids and it's all normal. Take it out of the shop and ride the crap out of it. The harder you it, the better it performs.

    Yes, I 100% agree with you but when I do get on it and pull the clutch in, it dies... That cant be normal.

    Does it Idle O.K ? And you are running at least 91 octane right ?. I sure sounds like there is some kind of fuel related issue. You should be able to jump on this thing and nail the throttle without problem. Most of the problems I have had with mine are in the carb, they are very picky on the air-fuel mix. I just would think with the fuel injection it should be a non issue. I know you probrably already changed the plug out - haven't you ?. I had plug problems until I switched to the iridium one.

    Have you been on yfzcentral? They have a whole section there devoted to the fi powertrain, you might have better luck there. Sorry for your troubles, im sure you'll love the bike once you get the bugs worked out
    Looking for a Bassani silencer for a 2nd gen tecate, the style with the movable mount. 1st gen will work

    No. When its idling and you rap it once, then when the rpms come back down they go real low then you rap it again it dies. Also does it when your riding it! Like in 3rd and you hit the throttle pretty hard then pull in the clutch it dies.

    Idles fine if I don't give it gas lol. I'm running non-ethanol. 93 I think? And I haven't touched the plug yet.

    Plug is a pain to get to. You pretty much have take half the plastics off as well as the tank , and use the plug wrench that come with the quad.

    Ya, $8000 dollar quads do make me feel better about putting $4000 into my trike to make it like new. It kinda justifies it..

    Oh, make no mistake, my 250r is "Just like new". It just sucks that I can't just go to the dealership for replacement parts.
