    1985 Honda atc 200X (auto-X) build

Figured I'd share few pictures of my latest project. What started as extra frame, extra 185S motor, add parts here n there, and decided to make a easy trail rider. Like most just a weekend warrior. Relatively new to the 200X grew up on the 185s/200S. THis is some of the pictures, I have more posted in my album if interested.

I'm not going to list every single thing what I did. But it was piece by piece, bolt to bolt gone thru. Main high light I'd say is 185S motor, bored .040" 200 jug, stock compression piston, new everything in motor from valves to timing chain. And later on in project, bought a supertrapp off eBay that runs 12 disks. Offset 400EX hubs/9" rims on brand new 20x11x9 sedona bazooka's. About all I have left is a rear caliper rebuild kit to do.

One area I do need some help on is getting headlights to work. I have Honda wiring diagrams etc. Basically has stock 200X harness and if anybody else has tips how-to retro fit into plug on 185 bottom end let me know it would be appreciated.

Thanks. Its coming along good. Had carb troubles early on, turned out to be cracked intake. Always have something I'm trying to improve on. But overall can't complain.

My front fender rubber grommets are little dry rotted so fender would move little but, so found a better set on eBay, came in mail the other day. Was thinking of making my own fender support off triple. Typical stuff like that.

What will you do for the headlight? That is the one issue I have run into on all my Auto-X builds in the past. I usually just "hacked" it together - duct taping the 200S bulb and socket into the 200X glass.
RIP - Yamahondaman!! You will never be forgotten!

As I originally posted I was wondering the same myself. Up to this point its all there just not functional. I use a stock 185S harness (not hacked) and connection onto motor now uses weather pack connector for ease of removing motor if needed. I have found/printed off wiring diagrams, my initially thought was save it for a cold wintery day and deal with it then. At one time I searched on here but came up empty, haven't since.

Thought of using 200X harness but the 200X only have 1 wire coming off the bottom end, trying to remember off hand, think its just a single coil system. But I will take pictures and post on here once I get that far.

Huh... interesting. Surprised yours worked and mine is much different. Can you reply with picture, I'm curious?

The bottom end of mine is an '81 185S also. Has square plug and 1 wire off the coil. My '85 200X harness on there just has 1 wire down. That is hooked up to ignition coil. Far as I know the square plug is strictly for light circuit. Don't quote me exactly but 95% sure. I don't have pictures off hand to post. I'll end up posting new thread on here eventually explaining and documenting what I did for wiring.
