Removed the Clutch Cover and Forks. Man, those are a bear to remove the axle shaft. Pretty sure it's never been removed since it was built in 1982. Removed the red Paint and was going to paint them black, but the aluminum under the paint was so nice, I decided to just polish them up and clear coat them. Did a quick polish on one of the forks, will make them better but ran out of daylight.

Finished polishing up the forks, gear shifter and Renthal bars, then put some clear coat on them. Painted the clutch cover black. Gonna let it all dry overnight and install after work tomorrow.

Paul from San Diego hooked me up with 5 bars to try. I really like the bars that match the bend of my motocross bike.

What are you using for a clear coat on the aluminum? I ask because when I polish or even just scuff/clean aluminum, I leave it bare. Curious about how well the clear works over time.

No vacation time. Pretty much work on it after my real job. Trying to get it done before riding season here. I use Clear Gloss For Wheels. It dries super fast and hard. I've used the colored wheel paint in the past and it works really well. I've had it on my sons 85cc Yamaha Badger now for 2 years and it still looks new.

I used the same clear on my triple clamps on my KTM 250SX and the same results. If you polish the aluminum, clearing it makes it look like polished nickle. Hope this info helps.

Also just bought some Red Acerbis hand guards as they did a great job on keeping my levers safe on my KTM. I've actually snapped my ASV breakaway clutch lever on my KTM, yes it's possible but not anymore with the handguards.

Installed the Renthal Handlebars, Mushroom Grips, Forks and Clutch Cover with a new O-Ring of course. Filled up the gearcase with Honda Racing Gearcase Oil.

Love the bend in these Renthals, they feel just like my KTM Dirtbike.

Your Odyssey looks clean, too. Santa brought us a 79 for Christmas in like 80 or 81. Rode the wheels off it - literally when the rear axle finally broke.

Hard to search for them on Craigslist since Honda recycled the name but I digress.

Thanks, I totally redid that 79 Odyssey. Runs like a raped ape too. I may get it out to the Desert this season. I just hate the pull starting.

Wire brushed all the rust off and wet sanded them then painted the wheels Gold and hit them with Satin Clear yesterday. One of the rears was very rusty inside. Put some Rustoleum Rust Restorer before painting them Gold. Installed metal valve stems.

I found an easy way to assemble them without hitting the lips on chit, Just used an old axle bolted to a junk tire/wheel haha. Almost the perfect height!

Great homemade wheel stand. In my Quads, I have put them on their side when I was mounting their tires. Yeah, I had gloss too but decided they looked more stock in Satin. Your wheels look great.

Couldn't do much on Sat since my wife threw a birthday party for me. Kind of a conjoined one as my bro in law is also around the same time. Was able to mount all the tires, but couldn't get the rear to bead seal. My compressor just doesn't have that oomph needed. Going to take them to the local MX shop and have them get the beads to seal.

Got the Front light and front fender mounted. Put a new rear bulb for the tail light and mounted it. Bled out all the old brake fluid with new. Rear master took a little McGyvering to get the air out, but I used a large syringe and pulled all the air out of the fluid reservoir and it finally started working. Glad that worked out ok.

Cleaned the chain and sprockets with Mineral Spririts and put some Chain Lube, then reinstalled.

I didn't like the ghetto aluminum paint the previous owner used on the rear hubs, so I removed the paint and polished up the metal and hit it with Gloss Clear.

For seating beads, I use a clip on tire chuck I gutted. So, it always passes air but it moves a lot more volume. I also have a 1/4 valve on the compressor.

With the valve closed on the compressor, I lube up the beads, pull the valve core from the valve stem on the rim, clip on the chuck, open the valve, and when the 2nd bead pops on, I pull off the chuck.

I could never get enough volume with the normal chuck.

I had the same issue with my Odyssey tires but eventually was able to get them to seat. I've tried the strap on the tire center without luck either. I also removed the valve stem, same results. Hopefully they don't charge me to just put air in the tires

I just did my rear tires, take the core out of the valve stem and then air up the tire till the beads pop. I only have a little craftsman pancake compressor and it popped the beads on no problems. I used a blow gun to air the tires... a regular chuck wont work without the core in the valve. the little air gun or blow gun that came with the compressor has a rubber tip on it that's cone shaped so it fit in the tire valve stem... But, if worse comes to worse, try the starting fluid method, I used that on a trailer rim...lol scary but it works! check it out on YouTube! just be careful and remember to first REMOVE THE VALVE STEM CORE! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N45KcCsBYmc
