1982 250R-The "Surprise" Build

I had the frame, forks and swinger done spring before last when I was building a 480. Everything I'm doing now is just paint, which has been just the tank, wheels, and engine. So the tank and engine don't exactly match the frame. Hopefully the red engine paint holds up as well as the black I have used in the past. Either way, it will look nice for a while. My brother is pretty anal about his clean machines.


Got the engine, airbox, front end, and most of all the little things buttoned up. Almost ready. Just little things like grips, tank decals, and whatnot. No pictures yet, but I'll get some tonight

The dirty hardware and pipe really take away from it, and has left me disappointed in the overall outcome. But I gotta leave him something to do I guess.. Stator cover was done in some type of wrinkle coating. Didn't want to blast off too well. But it will get replaced if my brother wants. I am happy with the results for putting nearly $0 into it. Just all with parts I had.



Original wheels are done, just waiting on tank decals and grips now.

Don't beat yourself up thinking of what you didn't do.....focus on what you did, looks great! When's the official handover scheduled for?

Yeah I'm not, it just sticks out to me really bad. Most people will see a clean bike, I see nasty hardware haha. You are your own worst critic!

Finding a good one locally was my big hold up, Then interest dwindled as the search went on and I got other trikes.

My brother is riding it in Baldwin this weekend Haven't gotten the tank decals yet, but Bruce did let me know it might be a little bit until everything is back up to speed which is fine.
