    1982 250R-The "Surprise" Build

So, My brother also has a ton of trikes, but doesn't cast his shadow over the internet too often...So A couple local guys have met him and that's it..

Basically, he has put everything aside, Gave up his house and moved in with his inlaws, all to pay for his wife to get her education. While I don't agree with it to this level, it is not my place, or my situation. Because of all this, he has been missing rides, only rode his dirtbike once this year. Hasn't touched a trike yet in 2014..So I decided to do something for him. He has given up alot to make sure his wife gets the education she wants. And he is my best friend so it really just has to happen.

His 1st gen R is a decent rider, and needs the shifter repaired, gas tank re-done, etc....So I called him yesterday and told him I would be fixing it for him.

Keep in mind, I started a 480 build during my "omg-im-gonna-be-a-dad-how-do-i-distract-myself" phase, and It got to finding an engine and then priorities changed. There it sat, for over a year up north in my dads shop. Collecting dust on that brand new coating, MINT triples and Honda badge, rebuilt forks, and fresh swingarm. What a shame.

Now. He thinks I'm only fixing the shifter He should know me better by now..Between both bikes, I have enough awesome parts to build a super solid R. So that's what I'm going to do.

So I ran up to my dad's shop last night and stole his bike.

It starts here, and here is the fresh frame. Going to start swapping parts over, and getting a pile together to be coated. The frame had new bearings and everything. Ready to go. I will not be changing the plastics since these are still fine, so I figure I'll let him do that if he wants.

Thanks! I started taking the wheels apart to blast them. Having a hard time getting the wheel halves out of the tire though..Axle is really clean. Tiny bit of surface rust on the lock nut and that's it

This bike is a bit cleaner than I remembered

I'd like to see the expression on your Brother's face when you give him your Dad's trike. A video of the event may be in order...

It was originally my father's bike. My brother (Matt) bought all of my dad's remaining bikes from him after he had back surgery. He can't ride anymore..He has a large shop so my brother stores his bikes there still.

I had thought about just dropping off the old frame in his parking spot for it, But Matt would know instantly what had happened since my 82 frame isn't on the shelf anymore..I was also thinking of recording it..

Well, off to contact Bruce for the new decals

Here is a daylight picture. Will need a headlight shroud at some point but this one will do for now. No show queen, but turning out really well so far. Just gotta get the wheels and engine finished then it's back in its own feet
