    My Zinc Plater did good.

I dropped off the '82R hardware last week and Overnight Plating in Rochester and they called yesterday that it
was done. Went this morning and was pleasantly surprised by the results. I've had them do hardware for my LT250s
but that was done in Yellow and it turned out well. This time I asked for Clear (silver) and am very happy. The
    axle was the best part.

I think my next build will be involving this, I would have on my brother's 82,but that's more of a "work with what I got" build

I don't have a picture of the whole axle, but this shot gives you an idea of what they started with.

There is one spot that didn't plate well, but I can live with it.

For you guys who would like to have hardware replated, check your phonebook for "Metal Finishers". So far I have taken in about 300lbs of hardware and had it replated with white zinc. Most metal finishers will put small stuff in a tumbler to remove the old finish and corrosion. White and yellow zinc is a very common finish and is the least expensive. Given the fact that some of the oddball bolts and such are had to find and some being discontinued and expensive makes having them replated very cost effective. Pretty much anything steel can be plated. Pot metal and aluminum should not be plated as the metal can dissolve in the VAT and contaminate the plating solution so STEEL ONLY>>>

Exactly, I was going to say to look under metal finishers. The place I take my stuff to smells like sulfuric acid as everything gets a bath to take the rust and corrosion off. The stuff that has paint
on it they blast. I like the silver finish the best as it seems lay down better than the gold. I had the gold done on my LT250s hardware and it didn't turn out as well as this batch.

Probably will here is the shot of the gold axle above before. It had far more rust on it. If I were going to keep the LT250s I'd
have the Axle redone in silver.
