    Little restoration of a 185s!

Hey guys. new from montreal quebec!

Picked up this beauty last summer! for 650$

Pretty clean for a 1983 honda atc.

First thing i did was to get one of these.

Cost 20$ to get it print at a local staples!

Played around alot and had great fun with it. One day my good old honda refuses to start. did all the test with my handy multimeter and it points me toward the stator coil. ordered the coil and flywheel puller before even taking out the recoil starter.

once i received the puller i decided to take a look under that recoil starter.

found a flywheel without a nut and washer and striped thread for the puller great.....

I decided to remove the engine and send to a local little engine shop they will pull it for me.

While i had the engine out i looked at my atc and think, why not repaint fender, frame, fork and all that! so i begin stripping stuff!

Then started sanding and sanding and sanding again!

Only have pic of the tank right now.

I chosse the krylon Red pepper color turns out pretty good.

It look ok on picture but in real it looks pretty good!

I will apply at least 3 coat of clear only on the tank because i dont think that gas spill will be good on this.

    Also begin the frame!

Right now i stopped here for today!

I will do the Axle and rim silver

The engine will be paint with Duplicolor Engine enemal Cast aluminum color.

The seat will also be recovered with a black leather cover.

    Also ordered some parts!

    Seat cover
    new dr8 ngk plug
    new cdi
    new air filter
    New brake lever clamp
Flywheel nut ( does it have a special washer? )

Parts i want to buy this winter.

    DG exhaust
new honda sticker for the rear fender, gas tank, front fork
    new fork boots
3 new classic duro knobby tire.

First i wanted to do a lifan 200cc electric start swap but my engine was running pretty good so i decided to keep my old engine. Will maybe try to find another 185s or 200s/m/e with a bad engine and restore and and make the lifan swap.

I am not making a fully restore mint/factory looking atc. I'm 21, and was always attract by these old machine, and its my first restoration. I'm using it and if there is a mudhole i want to be able to go in it without being guilty haha!

Ill post pictures of the evolution soon!

    Francis.

Great looking 185s. Just picked up an 81 model myself. Nowhere near the condition yours is in. Great find.

started working on the 200m today!.

it came with a rear seat and a rack when i bought it. first thing i did was to remove it.

also remove the front rack . dint like the look with it. right now rear rack is remove for sanding/painting.

also change the rear tire since it was the original one. i put on some itp mudlite 25x12x9 they look amazing! first i wanted some bearclaw but here in quebec they are b/o until december.

my plan with this machine is to repaint the frane in black. polish the fender a little. and keep it simple because ita running amazingly great!. only paid 650$ with title. its a steal here in quebec those machine are really overprice but sometime 1 or 2 pops out from an old man and i just cant let this pass.

i started to reassemble the first 185s

    the paint looks amazing.

right now my father's shed look like this lol

also have this little guy right here haha

this one has pretty nice rims on it. i think ill swap them with the other one. i only bought it for the title. i want my other 185 to have a tiltle. then fix it and sell it without title. pretty commun in quebec to buy a trike without title. cant believe i only paid 200$
