On an 86' frame the motor mounts are different(Welded vs. bolted), slightly different rake angle (Less). Not much changed frame wise. The rake was the main thing.

    Which motor mounts are these?

The only differences I know of are the rake, the forward gas tank mounts, the rear taillight mounts, and the rear shock reservoir mount is welded on ('85), and bolted on('86).

i tore it down to the frame today and its a 12/86. here are some pics. my gf's father owns a frame repair shop and said it would be no problem to straighten it. all i need to do is bring the beer haha. could someone send me some close up pics of a frame preferably bare but if not either will work, just so i have something to go by when he welds new mounts to it. also, i am in dire need of the triangle shaped motor mounts for the front of the motor by the exhaust. if i can get ahold of these i can mount the motor in position with these and the rear swinger bolt. thanks guys for the help. this turned out to be a bigger project than i thought but it will be worth it in the end!

The forward most lower mounts or "triangle shaped mounts" as skidoo put it in the above post, the 85 has the welded nuts, 86 does not ..

Good luck with that frame. The previous owner(s) really did a number on it.

Gotcha. I misunderstood what you were saying was welded on.

so what you mean is that the 86 had a longer bolt with a nut on the other side.

ya she is in rough shape but i really wanna ressurect this. i have the guy to fix it just in need of those mounts for the front of the frame. i think it would be pretty cool to bring it back to life, i hate how ppl just chop these things up not knowing what they are doing

Here is a pic from EBAY with the nuts welded to the right frame mount which is the 85 style.

skidoo what are you going to do about the lower motor mount brackets on the cradle and the upper mounts that were removed? I have a frame here that the backbone is bent severely but shipping is not cheap for a frame.

I may also have the front motor mounts, will check when I get in the garage this weekend.

    skidoo,
What motor are you planning on using in this frame?
Your other post with photos of your trike looks like a CR250R motor is stuffed in there. Explains why the frame was hacked up.

Think a few photos of the motor would help to show everyone what you are dealing with. If you plan on reinstalling that motor you will need to fab up some other motor mounts.

The first photo with parts in other post shows the right half of a ATC250R lower. Compare it with the complete motor and you will see the difference in motor mounts requirements.

the previous owner did hack up the frame and installed a cr motor. I plan to put the stock r motor in it which I have. I'm going to weld motor mounts back on the back bone for the head and the lower ones. Just need the front mounts to line up the motor
