    84 ytm 225 problems

    Hello,
I've been reading on the site for the last month and a half getting new info about my 1984 ytm 225. This is the first trike I've ever owned and have got tons of great info about it. One thing I haven't been able to find is more info about the mikuni vm22 carb that's on it. My carb leaks a large amount of fuel if I don't turn the petcock to off, I'd really like a carb kit to rebuild but also am open to purchasing a new carb. Does anyone know where to purchase either? I've found a bunch of vm22 carbs on eBay but they look very different from my carb. Also I am wondering what the best set of new tires would be mine are getting fairly bald.

    Thanks

I stole these pics from eBay but is this the same carb you have on your 225?

yes it does look like my carb, but looks just as old as mine it probably would have to be rebuilt too.

I know it looks old. I just want to make sure that's the carb. I will post a few links to the carb rebuild things you will need.

You need a needle valve set and a new float bowl gasket http://www.jetsrus.com/carburetor/ca...VM_series.html Be sure to check your float height while your in there.

You should just check out this thread. It has some good info about rebuilding that exact carb and my phone won't let me edit my previous post and paste links.

if your over filling with fuel first before tampering with float height remove the float needle seat and replace the o-ring the vm22 have an issue with when the o-ring goes bad of flooding non stop until the fuel is shut off. I chased that problem for 6 months once before finding out all it was is an o-ring.
rectum nothin damn near killed them
