Are they needed? To me they block the air flow. Mine are missing and i think they are for vibration.

The rubber blocks in two stroke air cooled cylinders are to cut down on noise. I didn't have any in a 84 Husqvarna 500XC, and it took a short 20 mile ride to convince me I needed them. Sometimes at night, I still hear the fins ringing...
The air blockage is minimal at best, as is the noise reduction.
So where do you get replacement ones?

I'm guessing they're no longer available OEM? I'd try an air cooled bike that was made recently like a YZ490 or a Blaster or something like that. They may still be available from the dealer and Yamaha seems to keep old parts around a lot longer than Kawi and Honda.

Are they really needed? Would not seem like they would make that much of a difference.

Noise reduction. Terrible without them. I know as I removed mine back in the day and could not put them back quick enough.
