    1987 ATC 330R Build.

So glad I can finally post this. Sorry for the lengthy post.. A little over 2 years ago I got into trikes. Being 14 at the time, I wanted an ATV that I could beat up and then dispose of, naturally I thought of a 3 wheeler because there so cheap. Growing up my cousins have always had 3 wheelers, like 90's, 110's, and 125's and sometimes a 185s. I actually thought the 185s was the biggest 3 wheeler ever built by Honda being like 6 years old, just because thats what my cousins had!! Back to 14 years old I was searching craigslist for 3 wheelers, thinking of a 110 at first, then a 200s, and I came upon this 1983 200X. It had a fully rebuilt motor and new tires all around for 600 dollars. I decided I would like to look at it. My Dad and I ran down there and took a look at it, it was a major POS cosmetically. At the time the biggest 4 wheelers I have ridden were Utility Honda 4 wheelers, so I never knew what acceleration was. I hopped on it, (this was my first time using a manual clutch) I killed it 2 or 3 times and then I finally got it going. I slowly accelerated it to 2nd, and then I punched it, and as soon as I felt that, in my head I said I am going to always love 3 wheelers!! I had no idea they had even made 250 2 stroke 3 wheeler until about 2 months later. Then liquid r's were around 900-1400 bucks in Minnesota, I was broke from buying the 200x and I really wanted a 250r. I absolutely loved the look of 85-86 250r's. I have always looked at liquid cooled 250r's as somewhat of a legend sense, and have always been on the lookout for one. This spring I heard from a friend that a guy in a local town near me had some liquid r parts. I met up with him and basically what I got was just a bunch of random parts, frame, radiators, tail light, wiring harness, forks, CDI box, things like that. On the way home I decided to stop at random peoples houses in the country side and ask if they had any 3 wheelers or knew of anybody with any. After a couple of misses, I came across this place with some elderly people. (they actually ended up being my Dads cousin) and they gave me a guys number, who they said had at least 75 3 wheelers. That got my attention, a guy that has that many 3 wheelers has to have some liquid r's. So I gave the guy a call later that day and he said enough parts to build 2-3 liquid r's. I went freaking nuts!!! I ended up going there and getting a motor, 3 frames, fenders, 2 front ends, 2 swingarms, 2 shocks, lots of brake parts, 3 sets of rads, motor mounts, and the works, for a very reasonable price. Only the best liquid r I could build would be suite for me. I had zero money to start a build like this so fast forward to June. My friends and I planned a Dune trip to the Little Sahara Sand dunes in Utah. I ended up taking my 82 250r there, we met up with some trikers and I got to ride a liquid R for the first time. I LOVED it. I had such a blast there that I decided it was time I get going on my 250r, I decided to go with a 330 big bore from ESR. I sold my snowmobile to help fund this, and have been working 5-6 days a week with high school to pay for this thing. The owner of the liquid R I rode out in Little Sahara extends swingarms, so he extended my swingarm 2 inches, and also bought 2 Baja light bars from him. The guy I bought all these parts from has a sand blaster and Powder coating set up and he said he would let me use them. Tonight I just got back from powder coating at his place. Some of the NEW upgrade parts I have bought are as follows. Lone star adjustable width axle, 1-4 inches. Lone star billet bearing carrier, oversize radiators, progressive fork springs, and Racetech gold valve emulators, PRM nerf bars. There is so much stuff to list its un believable. I had Mr clean polish up my tank, (LOOKS AMAZING). I also had GKing polishing on Facebook to polish a lot of my parts. Sorry if this was a long post but I just had to tell my story and why Im addicted, to these things that are trikes, and how I got to where I am with this build.

These bikes came from outside this dudes back yard just rotting. So glad I found them when I did.
Currently my rear shock is being rebuilt, revalved, and resprung for my weight, riding style, and swingarm length.
I am completely finishing the chassis first before I start building the motor, It is a 1985, but with an 1987 scheme.
I hope you guys can appreciate this build, as much as I am so far. It is a big undertaking for a teenager...

Alright guys here are the pics starting with on the trip home, to tear down. New parts pics, polished parts pics, and then powder coated parts pics.

That is one thing I don't have. They sell bran new tail lights on ebay for very reasonable prices.

Thank you guys so much for the positive comments!!! Hoping to get some more progress on her this weekend!

Just an afterthought about Mr cleans tank polishing.. I put the tank on the frame (everything was in my room), and I giddily smiled to myself for like 2 hours while surfing the net and every 5 seconds looking up at the thing, LOL.

Good job! I always liked the 1987 look, are you going to have Mrs.Mosh make the correct seat? I look forward to the final result! Check out these white short track shrouds made from a 3-D Printer! https://m.facebook.com/anthony.sole....%3Du_e_g&mdf=1

Im going to get an Ebay seat cover for it, I don't have the time to wait 3 months for it to be done, so I will have my brother do it, he is really good at this sort of thing and he has done a few for me already. I am not running any blue on this machine, so it will be a red and white seat. Yes I saw those shrouds and Im not really interested in spending that kind of money for some shrouds, I like the stock shrouds.
