    3 200X's

My buddy dropped these off to me yesterday. He bought all 3 of them 3 years ago for $600. They have sat and he has done nothing with them. The hope is to get all 3 running and leave them at his cabin on 800 acres with fantastic trails threw out(20 miles south of Hayward, WI). Which I have access to whenever I want so the labor is well worth it and he is paying for the parts.

All 3 are complete there are a couple tubs of parts not in the pictures. All 3 gas tanks are clean as a whistle inside. 1 has a 200CC auto clutch motor with 90 PSI. The leak down tester shows 40% loss coming from the intake and exhaust valves. Should be a quick and easy fix. The other 2 have 200x motors 1 is disassembled with a bad big end rod bearing. The last motor has Zero PSI and 100% loss from the leak down tester. When I pulled the oil filter/drain plug a piece of what I think is piston skirt fell out. So I've got my work cut out for me but it will be fun. I will update with progress. 1 at a time I'm starting with the auto clutch X.

That's awesome!!! I'm still gathering parts for a 200X build right now myself. I'm actually driving through Hayward area 7 days a week for work. I go up the Hwy 53 side and head home the 27/70 side.

Wow what a deal! My dad picked up a clean pair in '92 for $500. Didn't think you could get deals like that anymore.

Nice to see you've saved all 3 of them from rotting away. I have a pair myself, they're nice.

I'm not surprised to read of all the motor troubles. Kind of a weak point of this model. My first one ran great and smoked a tad, when I took it apart crack was spun, every bearing was bad. It can become kinda pricey. But think between 2 motors should get one together without a problem. If it were me I'd get that auto-x done, and keep one of the remaining two (fix 200X motor) and keep the other for parts or sell for few hundred again.

    Just a FYI - I posted a thread while back on my auto-x I recently did. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...ghlight=auto-x
I don't know if it'll be of any help but in my experience worked out well.

I never rode that far north, have been to Tomahawk many times and west of there. Otherwise mainly ride around Lakewood/Townsend on east side of state. Good luck on the re-builds.

dmfaulks85 - All the times I've gone riding in that area it's always been on private land but I will look into dead horse trail. Most my trail riding in WI is at Black River Falls and Turtle lake.

bumsted200s - That's a nice auto X you have there. I just spoke with my brother in law and he has a 200s motor sitting in his garage that he'll give me. So now I have 4 motors to make 3 runners. Thing keep getting better.

I'm surprised you've had bad luck with them. I know a lot of people that swear by them. But then again, it was probably an all stock motor that was run to the ground over the last god knows how many years.

Yes you're right, they guy I bought it from had demo cars & bunch of junk laying around so my first impression were obvious. I've actually rebuilt another 200X motor (aside from mine listed above) he had kicker stripped out & he had no bearing left... spun the engine cases. From my research on 3ww, I've read of a few that had cam tensioner issues also.

Far as I know his 200X motor is running well, and mine is tip top. I'm probably the exception to the rule.

Look like all 3 are 84's. 200X's are great trail machines. Maybe put a LIFAN 200, instead of fixing the (very) broken motor? The over head cam motors are becoming harder to find...
Don't matter what route you choose, it will be great fun, both fixing them and riding them.
    Good luck with the project(s)

I would have to say the 200 series motor is one of the best motors Honda ever produced besides the 50 and 70cc motors. Any motor that can run for 30 years and just now needing a set of rings is a good motor in my book.
