Out of the game for awhile, where to buy parts?

Well I've been gone from here for a few years sold all my trikes buy 2. Anyways my 200x has been setting since the last time I rode it which was approximately 3-4 years now. If I remember correct it got hot and locked up. I was told when I got it that it was bored and had a cr cam in it but who knows. It does kick free now but I'm not sure what all is damaged. I'm gonna assume it needs a whole new top end. I'm dropping it off at my buddy's shop next week to bring her back to life and get my family envolved in riding. So my question is where is the best place I buy motor parts for my 85x? Thanks in advance.

I knew the gaskets were readily available but I will prolly need a piston and rings, but the biggest part what if the jug or head is messed up can you still get some of this stuff from Honda?

Unfortunately no, Honda does not have them any longer . . if you need a cylinder, you can just get yours sleeved . . there are several places that do this . . you can also fix some things on a head even it it requires welding . . ebay also has a lot of used heads and cylinders for this model.

the reason I mentioned those gaskets is because they are both very good and there are some bad ones out there now, so things might have changed since the last time you bought parts.

you're welcome and i doubt that no one else wanted to help . . my guess is that maybe its just because not a lot of people are around to reply to posts . . i have seen a few other posts go unanswered for a day or two or three also but it looks to me like someone always eventually gets to them.

I'm not sure if I will bore it or not. Won't know till my buddy gets it tore down. I've had it for prolly 5 years or so and its set for at least the last 2-3. When I got it I was told it was bored and had a cr cam how true that is I have no clue. It would run about 62-64 with me at 6'1 230. So I guess I'll see what it looks like when it's tore down. And yeah seems like a lot has changed since I've been gone.

there are a number if thing you ned to look for. First, pill the drain plug and draint he oil, while draining take a clear water bottle and capture some of the oil so you can view it for metal in it.
if you find it very shinny and metalic all in it, you probebly need to rebuild the entire motor especially if you find chunks or large shavings. if it is just some tony few flaks then your probelby fine with the bottom end. before you go throwing $ at it, you probely shoudl pull the top end appart and inspect it yourself. this will ensure you knwo what shape it is in and what parts you need. if the cam locked due to oiling then you will need a new head vs cylinder. so it is best to take it appart and inspect before you spend any $.

Just a suggestion, but you may want to have a ltitle more patience. you posted 1 day and expect everyone to jump. it takes time. we have lives of our own. some of us spend a lot of time in our own shops doing stuff. With making negativce comments the knownedgeable guys tend to shy away from posters like yourself because of the negativity posted. So jsut offering up that beign nicer and polite goes a lot longer way.

I buy 90% of my new parts on ebay. I will also buy a few used parts off of there but usually you can get the used parts through a member on here a lot cheaper.
