    aluminum ATC 70 build

I have been planning on doing this build for a long time and I finally decided to go for it. About 5 years ago I bought a 1982 ATC 70 and a 1970 us90 both in rough shape. The us90 had a 1979 motor and rear axle but didn't run and had lots of problems. The plan is to build an aluminum frame that uses the 90 axle and brakes. Also the gas tank will be aluminum since the 70 tank was rotten.

I'm almost done the frame now. I'll post more pics soon. The backbone of the frame is 1 7/8" tube 1/4" thick. The frame sides are 1/8" aluminum cut out on a CNC plasma cutter.

The frame sides took a long time to program but they turned out great. The 90 sprocket hub was machined so the 70 sprocket would fit. Then the 70 sprocket was drilled with the 90 bolt pattern.

A couple pics of the gas tank. I cut the pieces on the band saw, rolled the curves then used a pullmax to get the a tight radius on the edges. I used .080" 5052 aluminum for most of the tank.

Looking good do you have any idea on weight of the aluminum frame compared to steel frame yet?

Thank you all for the compliments. When I am done my frame I will weigh them both but as of now my aluminum frame is quite a bit lighter.

Here's a couple more of the gas tank. Welded up and ground down with a threaded fitting for the gas cap.
