    ATC 200sx

With a little help from some 3ww members, and the drive to build something awesome, I find myself knee deep in a build. The donor is a '88 200sx quad. Quite a rare find as it is the last year of the four wheeled sx. As ol' deuce was wrapping up his super X build I stumbled upon the donor while in search of a new prospect for my next project. 2 comments from the super x thread would not leave my mind:

    1. The hardest part was finding a donor. (One was sitting in front of me)
    2. Quads make awesome parts bikes. (That's about all they are good for)

So I traded my BR parts machine (which I no longer needed) and $50 and the rest is history...

All the motor needed was a ring job. So I went .20 over 10.25:1 wiseco. Stock 200x exhaust (from dirtwheels). I ordered the wrong gasket set so I am waiting on it to assemble motor and put it in the frame. Put a new timing did timing chain, new clutch plates since I had the cover off. The oil pump chain seemed loose but after researching it is common so we will see. The inside of the motor was very clean so I was glad to see that. Cannot wait to get this machine running. I forgot to mention that this is my first build from frame up. A couple more pics what the hell.

Cool to see another second gen build. When opportunity is staring you in the face (aka donor quad sitting in front of you), you gotta take it. keep up the good work

Yes sir, I wasn't even planning this build it just kind of snuck up on me and I rolled with it. Had to put a couple other ideas on the back burner. I keep telling myself, 1 at a time, otherwise I will screw them all up.

She's a roller, kinda, I just put on a few tires I had lying around and a Chinese shock that would bottom out with my 4 year old daughter on it. I just wanted to see what it would look like with wheels on. I will likely get a new front tire when Its all said and done and I have a decent pair of ohtsu' s that I plan on using for the rear. I love how the 2nd gen 250r axle widens the stance. I also used the quad hubs because they seemed solid and added about an inch of total width to the axle.

Motor is officially assembled and torqued to spec. The valve adjustment setup on this thing is effortless.

Is the thin metal cover over that oil pump gear? Thats what keeps it on......They'll may also be meant to keep some oil in a bath there, I'd have to look at one again....

People take them apart and throw them away.

Best of luck, your getting there!!

Thanks, I never throw anything away. I'll use it some day right... Yes the cover was installed, just not it the pic. I'm pretty sure it was an old post of yours that I read that made me stop worrying about that chain. I couldn't find one for the life of me. A lot of sites show it as being available and even let you order and pay for it only to break the bad news 3 days later that your money has been refunded.

Got the stock 200x exhaust mounted. Put the carb on but there isn't much room for an intake boot. I may need to find a new intake manifold that isn't as long.
