    86 ATC 250r Build

Hey guys a couple months back I started on my 250r build.. so I have a few pics saved up. Still not done but its getting there. Click image for larger version.

The first 3 pics are from when I picked it up close to a year ago I'd say. I was given some money with it so I picked up a few things to get it moving and looking somewhat decent. A lot of things wrong with it.. and needed a rebuild asap. I ended up rebuilding it and the motor lasted a month before it blew the base gasket. I caught it before it seized up fully but I still put it away for the year. Sat for a few months before I tore it down and moved everything into my bedroom. My room was half the size for a good 2 months =)

I sent the frame, swinger and other parts off to get powdercoated. After getting them back I slapped it all together and cleaned off the dirty axle the best I could. Got off all the dust.. grease and whatever else was on it. Click image for larger version.

Up next is the main part.. the motor. I got it all wrapped up tight and shipped it off. Had* some bad case damage.

I got a new killswitch, tether switch, MSR clutch lever, new front MC with a custom made cover (says ATC 250r and looks amazing!!) (Made by Mikes custom machine shop on facebook)

Next I finally got my skidplates from PRM.. and sorry to say.. they fit horribly for me! Even scratched and chipped my fresh powder coat
You may notice i ditched the maiers shrouds and went with brand new oem shrouds =)

Now I finally got my fork bottoms back and after an hour of fighting with the forks I got them together.. filled with fluid and ready to absorb some bumps once again!
You'll also notice I put an 85 seat cover on an 86. I like the 250r better than the ATC and yes i realize there are a few wrinkles.

I ended up shipping the tank out to get sanded and polished. I don't have the tank yet but will post pics when it arrives.

Next I wanted some spacers so I just bought some 2.5 inch stud extenders for when I run the 18s. I got the 18s from a buddy.. and i did not put the tires on those rims.. so I realized 1 is backwards haha. Those are also NOT the rims i'll be running.. they are just what they came on and I needed a little preview of what they'd look like. My opinion.. the swinger needs to be a +2 and it'll look perfect with 18s.

that's some nice work so far...looks really nice like new now.

Are you going to do donuts in the spare bedroom? That's awesome, you should add the pics to the "show off your work space thread".

Well ran into a little snag! Minor though luckily. My brake pads hit the rotor and as soon as I took the picture I realized the brake hub isn't fully in? I cant seem to get the hub in all the way.

Also looking for the spacer that goes on the swinger. Holds the brake stay in place. I seem to have misplaced mine and cant find it anywhere.. and if anyone has the snapring or knows where to buy that exact size would be great. Paypal ready!!

Looks great . Are you having BDT do the case repair. They do some awesome repairs on the liquid R cases plus they build some nice big bore motors.

You can use a bushing for the brake stay from a 400ex. Like $7 from honda.
It has a flange on the back so you don't need the snap ring
