If the story is true it seems like a piece of race history

Here is the Craigslist Ad Ill copy and paste what it says, pretty interesting if true

Yamahonki - Built by Team Yamaha in Santa Anna Calif. in 1985. Yamaha had no quad yet to stadium race. So they started with a Honda ATC 250R, added a Suzuki LT 250R extended after market front end and powered it with a Tri Z 250 two stroke motor, Motor was recently rebuilt by one of Cycle Barn's best mechanic. Extended swing arm, Extended axels, original Bill's pipe, new plastics, new chain, twist throttle. Its wide, Its long and Its fast. Truly one of a kind!!! Featured in Dirt Wheels Magazine 1985. Could use updated brakes and suspension. $1500 OBO

The rear fender looks like 1st gen 200x.The swingarm doesn't look like a 3rd gen 250r.

The frame from what I can see is 83-85 200x. If you look at the footpeg mount in second pic. Also the seat rear fenders fit pretty well. The swingarm may be 230 quadsport .I wonder where the radiator is.

83-85 200X everything from fenders and pegs back. LT250R front end up front. tri-x motor...end of story. Its a clean cool bike, I'd ride it for $1500
