Swingarm Identification

Hi Guys,

I have come across a real mystery item. This swingarm was on an 86 TRX 250R. I cannot tell what type of swingarm it is. So, I have brought it up for discussion to some of the most knowledgable group in this area. Thoughts?

that there is a stock 86-87 atc or trx 250R stock swing arm. That has been seriously modified or ruined. I can tell from swing arm rails and inside rails right in back of front mounts. That has been cut re welded, drilled on many times. And also had mounted or welded 2 pieces of mount tube.

x2...right on paul. When I look at that I see a stock TRX converted to a no link.

It is an 86-87 TRX stock swingarm.

Thank you for all your participation, I cannot tell you how many different pages I have searched attempting to uncover this mystery swingarm. The motor mount does slide off easily once the swingarm bolt is removed. I will be sending her off to sandblast soon. Then she will receive primer, paint, and the stock bearing carrier with a fresh set of rear bearings + seals, and new front needle bearings, seals, and dust covers. Then to the auction block to be sold for what she is. Thank you again for all your participation in identification; for the right price she will make someone very happy.

Good luck I would not run that swing arm on any machine. Not sure why you would waste time and money on a very poorly modified swingarm. It is scrap and I would not trust any of those welds. Its your money to spend so do it wisely.

Sorry to be "harsh" but that is my humble opinion.

Here's what I personally know about the "design".

There was a ATC/ATV shop in Phoenix, AZ named- ATC Specialist the owner was Neil, when Quads became all the rage and the Government helped us out with banning 3 wheelers. (Joke)

They changed the name to- ATV Specialist.

Neil is a excellent fabricator and great guy, very talented.

He modified 1985-86 ATC 250R & 1985-87 TRX 250R swingarms just like this one. He used a Works Performance Ultra Cross shock with no linkage. He also built a version with twin rear shocks from the front of a quad also Works Performance, very, very plush ride. Too soft for my liking, but it worked for him. (Shorter & lighter than me)

He was a top pro in desert racing and would spank many pro's in his state of Arizona, racing ADRA. (Arizona Desert Racing Association)

What I call the "flip up" down by the bearing carrier was designed so the swingarm could be lengthened, but keep the stock type ride height for stock type handling.

Everything was sleeved internally, TIG welded and looked perfect.

Now it gets "Muddy" He built Primo stuff & would send sea containers full of trick parts to the UK/Europe along with all over the USA.

He, IMHO did NOT build this swingarm, but I think someone tried to copy his design/fab skills. (Many shops did at that time)

They also only used PRM Products skid plates, and that is NOT a PRM, guaranteed.

I am with Mr. Clean, I would not try and use it.

If you/anyone wants more info PM me, he was involved in a terrible natural accident while out riding that I would prefer not to post on a open forum.

Close, but the Roll has better welds.
