86 tecate

Guy has an 86 tecate in Phoenix right now for sale for 1200 missing shrouds and rest of the plastics are really faded. Says engine is rebuilt back in 07 but rarely starts cuz of what it is. I argued with this guy about 2 months ago he wanted 2000 for it back then and a 86 250r missing rear fenders and seat needs clutch and who knows if its original motor. I think the Tecates are easier to find out west but still somewhat rare. The Tecate parts will be expensive for some of the stuff.

That Tecate have a parking brake?

The Tecate rear hubs look to have a smaller bolt pattern than oem. Pipe looks funny. Maybe it is just the poor pictures?

That is a pretty typical shape to find a low priced T3 in.

I think a bundle is a good idea and now that you have posted a craigs link someone will go buy them before you.

Thats all after market plastic, looks really rough...

I talked to this guy also a few weeks ago when he had it for 2000. Then it was 1500. Now it's 1200. Ended up passing on it. Too much missing that would take a while to find. It has an 85 rear end and brake setup on it. He told me the 86 rear axle and bearing carrier got bent when it rolled. He said the Honda 250R was pretty nice but was in a fire which messed up the plastic.

Wait I thought you were talking about the 250r having the rear swap but that's the tecate. Had to 're read that. Yeah im out on both im sure more of the 250r was burned than he says.

beat down and set on fire ...ouch. Yeah he is asking more than I would pay. Low price is around $300-800. If it looks bad in the picture , I often find it is 10 times worse in person,

I want a second gen tecate so bad but this one raises flags. My brothers friend from high school has one that he has had since I was a kid he says he will sell after he rebuilds the engine and rides it one last time. At least I've seen this one run back in the day. He won't give me a price i imagine a lot after.

Well i think i might go get that tecate tomorrow. If i do ill post some better pics and hope everyone can help me get it back in good shape.

Im going to try to get it lower what should I look for up close say on the frame and stuff.
