    1984 ATC 70 - Clean Up / Restore

My son loves his stock 1984 atc70 I love my 1984 atc70 - 140 that I just finished. So when this 1984 atc70 came up on the local classifieds I decided it deserves to be cleaned up. It is not in very good shape but we'll fix it.

I can't go all out on this one so I'll have to cut costs where I can. I got a $5 piece of rebound foam at Home Depot and 4 dollar contact cement. I cut and shaped it to fix up the seat foam. Not pretty, but functional and beat $50 for new foam on Ebay.

    ATC70 Restore Progress

Life has been busy with lots of kids baseball but I made some progress. I got the primer, paint and clear coats laid.

Continuing with the cheap seat, I bought a $6 piece of black vinyl, a $3 piece of white vinyl, and use some cotton cord I had laying around and then hand stitched a seat cover. Not bad for total of $18. I still need to cut some stencils and paint my Honda logo and 70 sides.

She's complete for now. I plan to get a full set of front and rear plastics, as I don't like the painted fender look or the missing front fender look, but this one had to be done on the cheap for now. Later I plan to put a 125 in it. But here she is as a 70.

That's a nice ride you put together, I like it. Interesting paint scheme too. Who did your air brush work?

    Thanks for the comment.

I did the airbrush work. I'm a novice and see a lot of room for improvement, but It turned out allright for being my second attempt on a gas tank. My first attempt was the green tipped blue flames on my other ATC70. I hope to do another ATC70 or three in the future and hopefully my airbrush skills will improve with each one.
