has anyone bought and installed the cheap mastercylinders found on ebay?

been looking for a new master cylinder for my 200x. seen some chinese manufactured ones on ebay whole assembly and lever for 29.99. anyone out there have any luck with these? or any suggestions on another master cylinder from another bike that would fit like the stock one? i know about anyone will work. just would like personal experiences that have worked. thanks in advance.

Buy a front master from a '98-02 CR80, or an '03-07 Cr85. They are cheap used, and if you get the whole front brake setup with the caliper, the CR front caliper is a bolt-on replacement for the 200X rear caliper, you just have to re-use the 200X bracket. Added bonus: no more parking brake mechanism if you swap the rear caliper to the cr unit!

Also, if you stick with Honda parts, you can always get a rebuild kit. No chance of that with a chinese master cylinder, you just throw those away when they fail.

My front masters are CRs and one off an XR250. My rear masters are all cr 80. Super easy. See page two.

i was also thinking about using a master off a street bike with a bigger piston/cup bore to get some more clamping power. maybe a master off a bike with dual disc front brakes. but then im afraid it might blow the seals on the stock front caliper.

The Chinese masters work fine. I have a set of them on my super x for the front and back brakes. Left and right hand levers. They aren't easy to bleed but once that part is done your good.

You've got it backwards. Assuming you only change the master, a smaller master cylinder bore= more pressure for a given amount of hand effort, but also greater lever travel. Larger master cylinder bore= lower pressure but less travel (lever feel is very firm, but you have to squeeze harder to make it stop).

For my customers on a tight budget they work fine but OEM is always best .
Btw I have probably installed 20 of the cheap china masters with no issues .
