Trail ride at Meadow Lake
Loaded up the family and wheelers on the 4th and headed up to an old mining ghost town called Gilmore. Up above the town 6 miles or so is Meadow Lake. Its a nice place to go trail riding and do some exploring, some old mines and buildings to wander through. I always had my riding buddy with me, he is 2 1/2 yrs old and loves 3 wheelers. If I go to get on a 4 wheeler he always says no and says we have to go on the 3 wheeler. We were putting around on a road that wandered through some mines and buildings and his helmet slowly dropped down on the handle bars, he was sound asleep. Drove back to camp, about 3 miles and put him on a blanket to finish his nap. Was pretty funny. The town is about 7000 feet elevation and the lake is about 9100 feet. Still a few snow banks on the far side of it. I remember being stuck in a snow drift trying to get into it on the 4th of July years ago. The fishing was pretty good as they stocked the lake 2 weeks ago and the campground has only been open since the weekend before the 4th. We had a great time and it being only an hour drive, got back in plenty of time to see the local fireworks display. Hope everyone had a safe, fun 4th of July weekend, we sure did!
