    Speedometer Confusing Questions

Hi guys, I am very confused as to which drive gear I need for my 250es.

I believe I need a right hand side mounted gearbox. I have found a couple on ebay but this guy is selling one and claims it is for a 250r or 350x, to me this is a left hand mounted unit which will not work on a 250r, 350x or 250es. I know that tyre sizes are all different. This one would be for early 250r or 200es etc. Am I correct?

I think this one is the one that I need, however this guy claims it is for a 200es but to me it is a right hand gearbox making it for the 250es, 250r or 350x. Am I right here?

Or there is this one for the sx, which will work on the 250es but will read a tad out. I think this last one is a right hand gearbox also.

Can someone please help me out here, am I wrong or are these guys listing things incorrectly.

IMG_1112.jpgIMG_1113.jpgIMG_1114.jpgthe 250es,250r , 350x, and 250sx all use RH gearboxes its the way they are fitted that is different....
the 250r,250sx and think 350x (can't remember which is way the 350x goes) run the gearbox with the cable going into the gearbox on top (leading axle) the 250es runs the gearbox from the bottom (trailing axle) i have attached some pics to show what i mean...the first pic is 250es the next is 250sx and the last is 250r....hope this helps

Thanks Pete. Sort of clarifies it a bit better. So basically a 250r, 350x and 250sx box will work on my 250es (apart from it reading out due to tyre size) ?

Yes......but i'm not 100% on the 350x gearbox can't remember which way it was.....you could use the 250es gearbox as well just have to run it the way its on the BR.......and all the gearboxes have the same gearing so the tyre size makes no difference as they have a tolerance of 10% each way.....

Ok thanks again Pete. Do you mean the 200es gearbox could be used on the 250es, but on the opposite way?

Yeah well I think something may come of it., it looks identical, has same axle width and uses the same cable. BTW the ct110 cable will work and only an inch or so long. I will let you know how it all comes together.
