Honda ATC185s flywheel removal. Need help

So I need to remove the flywheel on my 185s, and the threads that you usually screw the puller into are destroyed. How to I go about removing it now? Maybe using a puller hooked on to the recoil start basket? Also the impact sockets dont fit in the hole to remove the flywheel nut, so what is the best way to remove it using a ratchet or johnson bar?

    Thanks

the only thing I can think is a clutch basket remover tool that might take it right off. If you do get it off please replace the flywheel.

You don't necessarily need an impact socket to remove that nut.

With the right size and type of puller you may be able to pull it using two of the bolt holes for the pull start basket. Just be careful not to thread the bolts in too deep and mess up your ignition/lighting coils.

Ok, thanks. I know a guy that has some old parts engines for sale and I think there is a good flywheel on it, so I may try and snag that. Would it work to use a slide on a puller that was held on by those 2 bolts? I might be able to make something up then that would work with a slide . But would that break anything or cause any other problems?

Funny I was going to mention a slide . Think that will work just fine.

we used a regular flat puller with 2 bolts threaded in to the recoil basket holes. we put a regular socket on the impact to get the flywheel nut off. this was all on a 200s my uncle just picked up

Get the flywheel removal tool from eBay. Shipped about $12. Do it right the first time and keeps from damaging bearings or cases and what not.

I would get the tool but since the flywheel threads are destroyed it would not do me too much good.

I will use a flat puller then, and a regular socket.

Ahh ok missed that. Then a good gear puller is in order and put a bolt on the crank end and endure the head is ground down or use a Allen bolt
