A hole bunch. 83-84 front end bolts on with just boring the 250R's tripple tree and reinstalling all the old 200x parts.

    See attached.

That's my old bike..... it's long gone, didn't impress me motor wise but suspensino wise worked...i ran a 83 R shock on the rear also. For the fork swap you just buy 83-84 forks and triples. remove the stem out of the R tripples, machine the stem hole of the 200x triples a little larger. I think it's 27mm vs 26mm and reinstall. You just use all your old 200x stuff. Guys have been doing this since the 80's.

Your front wheel, brake caliper and line and hub are all the same as 83-84 250r, just the R is gold.

85-86 you need a ton of more stuff and really its over kill for the 200x.

There is no con with using the 83-84 R tripples, they are just bored 35mm vs the 200x ones at 33mm fork tubes and also use the same steering stop. 3rd gen R uses a different style.

You gain an extra 2.5" of shock travel out of the R forks. I am sing them on my new bike, KX100 in 85 200x.

Thanks just trying to make it a little more friendly for the woods. Everything's right and tight but I feel like I been in a fight afterwards.

Thats because 200x suspension is junk lol R front end and a build rear shock will change the ball game...but if your cheap save your money and just buy a 250R. That 200x I did the suspension work to I had $4000 into, road like a sofa on wheels however.

Oldskool83 is dead on with that fork swap, but it you need more convincing just ask Micky Dunlap, or any of the ex factory Honda guys.

Great thread. I have been researching 200x suspension up grades . I do a little mx racing with my 200x and want a bit more suspension for the jumps. I have a spare 83-84 rear shock that I can mate to a DG plus 2 swingarm. I had a thought of using a 84 250r front triple with with 85 forks . I need to get the triples bored.
