Thanks for the additional info. I ended up using a clean cam off of a 1988 Trx200sx. Haven't run it yet, but the part number matched Honda's part number for the 200x. As for the chain, I got a used one off of ebay. When I put it on it had so much slack in it. I just didn't trust it. I ended up buying a DID 25h timing cam chain for a 70's honda and it was 104 links long. I bought a 25h chain breaker and rivet tool to break the cam chain and then re-rivet it back together. It came out perfect. I now have a chain that has 1/4 the slack of the used one I bought and it is a much stronger chain (the stock chain was a 25 chain and this cam chain was a 25h, the h is a heavier duty chain). The best part is it was long enough to make 2 chains, so now I have a spare.

This is the chain that I bought. You can see how much larger it is. The 200x is back up and running once again. Thanks for all your help. The top end is a little louder than in the past, but I'm assuming the rockers will have to wear into the new cam a little. I pulled the bolt on the top of the rocker box and it was putting out plenty of oil, so I know that the oil pump is still good. Smoked a little more than normal, but that hopefully is just the assembly lube used and not valve blow by.

Here's the old chain, I should have taken a video of the new chain, but it has so much less slack.

That's freaking sweet Jason. You should make those chains and sell them in the 3ww shop. I'll buy 2 if you do. Glad you got it rolling.

It said 2-3 times in this thread that the chain is obsolete. It has to be made. Thats why i asked if there could be a write up made about it with specific tools

So with some googling, looks like china makes some 25hx44L timing chains. Not sure i would want to try it though.

The 86/87 200X cylinder head is ABSOLUTELY NOT a matched set.

The cam runs on ball bearings and not journals!!
