Any suggestions on what I should bring?
Can you easily buy a whip/flag?
what sand tire should I get? Mounting on stock 86 tecate
Any suggestions from people that have been there?
It gets COLD at night, so make sure you have a way to bundle up, while your asleep too! Hard to think of things outside the norm from that. I try to bring enough stuff so I minimize the trips to town. I hate running into Yuma!!!!!! Seems like it robs a half a day from you everytime.
Whips/flags, you can buy from sidewinder gas station on the way in. Or at the general store/dinner if they are open.
Sand tires, really what ever you want to afford. Everyone seems to have different opinions. I like the Skat Trak haulers the best, for serious traction, and ascetics. Most people run V paddles like the sand stars, they aid with turning a little more. And I feel 20" is most appropriate no matter what you get. Even if you dont want to run sand paddles, you can get around fine on dirt tires. Just a little more "challenging."
Oh and plenty of 2 stroke mix!!!! You will burn through fuel like you never imagined!

Bring a couple flags. There will not be anyone on vendors row until maybe the weekend.
Sand tire. I like skat trak haulers but I also love to run knobs as well. It is two totally different styles of riding. What's your budget for sand tires?
2 smokers always bring 1-2-3 sizes bigger jets. or we may have some. keeps pistons from becoming one with cylinders. breakaway flags or the new ss flags r good investment. best investment for nite rides sylvania silver star ultra bulbs a must have. i may bring xtra paddle set(s) since i have em.

Thanks, so if I'm running a 270 main jet I should bump up to a 280,290 or 300?
Is there gas available close to the campsite?
Everyone pretty much convinced me to run paddle tires, but then I hear the paddle tires don't turn. I'm still up in the air.
Paddle tires turn fine. I've run straight paddles, and v paddles. In the tight spaces the straight paddles don't does as well, but I have ridden both all over there. Gas is 10 minutes up the road at sidewinder.

Is that sidewinder in winterhaven?
It says its permanently closed.
Bought all my permits today - parking tag for the van and 3 out of state green stickers.
Sucks if that is true. That has always been our go to place for whip flags, gasoline, beer, ice, and permit sticker for the rental car. If that is the case, we will just have to find a new place to buy those supplies.
Paddle tires are almost definitely your best choice. What machine will you be riding there?
Depending on one's riding style helps determine which type of paddle tire, number of paddles, size of wheels a trike needs. Any paddle will be better than none. Looks like the sand maybe wet and heavy from this years El Nino rains. Paddles in wet sand robs a little power but makes no dust while following each other on those pack rides, still good riding.
