Update, put a trail bikes full 88 kit on this little guy. Can not get it to fire. I've checked and rechecked timing, valve clearnce, spark. Valves set at .oo2 per the book, bright blue spark, but according to my plug checks it's not getting fuel. Bowl is full, jets are clean, (New carb with the kit.) Any ideas? I don't get what's going on here. Thanks for any input.

    Compression check ?
It won't draw in the fuel if their isn't enough compression .

I have an idea..... since you are having so much trouble out of it you can just let me have it. haha
No super find. Dont give up on it. Would be a blast to ride when finished. You really need to do a 108 stroker motor. I had a friend when I was growing up who had one and it would scream!

It's not for sale! I have not done a compression test yet, should be good, everything is new. And I plan on putting the stroker crank in there this winter, I was being frugal when I ordered the parts!

Is your plug dry after you try to start it?
I would shoot a little gas directly into the carb and see if it hits.
Sometimes it needs a little help to get the juices flowing.

Yes, the plug is dry after trying to start it. I put a shot of gas in cylinder and didn't get anything out of it. I am 99% Sure timing is spot on, have not done compression check as I need to get the correct adaptor for my snap in set. I'm kind of at a loss here

That thing is awesome! Have you tired to adjust the points? I've had similar issues with bikes with a basically non existent point gap.

I have not adjusted the points. I have thought about it, but the lil bugger throws off a spark that's as bright as my mig welder touching off. Just a diff color! It's on my list however. Before, (stock motor,) it ran but was an absolute dog. Used my buddies compression tester and I only got 85-90 psi. Tried adjusting the valves, but the inspection plugs were froze solid. By the time I got them out the threads in the head were about pulled out. So I have a lot of new items here to diagnose and test.

Well if it ran before it should run again but to me a doggy 70 screams point adjustment. As they wear the gap narrows and that retards the ignition timing. The point gap is the only ignition timing adjustment these have. Have you tried to spray a little bit of gas and back of the carburetor? I have a couple 70s that do not like to start after they've been sitting. I haven't really torn into it yet but I suspect they are lean on the pilot.

Yea, I get nothing when I shot gas into cylinder and it carb. Plug is DRY. going to pull the flywheel and check timing here soon. My ambition is kinda low after work here this week!

The flywheel actually opens the points so the flywheel needs to be on when you check them. So it's a little less work this way. LOL. You just pull the recoil and recoil cage and look through the flywheel.

Oh yeah. Duh. I've got a manual so I'll double triple check before my sleep deprived self dives in. Waited till Sunday to do the engine work.i was to tired in sat!
Is the ignition timing adjustable or just the point gap? Dint have the book in front of me.
