Thanks. Ive heard good things about UNI. What about K&N? Or do they allow to much dirt in the motor?

Properly oiled UNI for wet/muddy conditions.

you can get away with a K&N for gravel road riding or dusty conditions. Needs to be oiled properly as well.

Ok. Thanks I don't plan on getting this thing muddy a lot or drowned in water. Just want to fix it up nice as i can and cruise dirt roads.

Also, I forgot to add that a UNI IMO is better in sand dunes as well. So if you ever plan on going to little sahara, get a UNI.

Now if I do go with a UNI or K&N I won't need to use the factory metal air filter cage right?

you will not need the factory metal cage if you buy an aftermarket filter.

I'm fairly certain the K&N utilizes the factory cage - so don't toss it away.

huh....those filters flow more air than stock. Yes, you will likely need to re-jet. Pilot should be a 35 or 40 and I think main is a 108. Go to jets r us and pick up a 112 and 110 main. If its a 35 pilot pick up a 40. Start rich and work leaner. with just an air filter mod a 110 should be sufficient.
