If you're parting it out you did well. If you're rebuilding it you paid the right price.

$50 is a steal. Had to have been some kind of "hook-up' deal right? How much do they sell for in decent running condition?

I paid $60 for a 200x with no rear wheels or motor or tank or seat. $50 tri z is worth rebuilding....but be prepared to dump about $1000 into that at least.

Holy holy..little late response here, sorry about that guys..newborns and just plain life you know.
It went down quite simple really.. I'm addicted to these things (anything with motor and or wheels to be honest).. I check cl in my area daily if not 2-3 times daily when I'm looking for something specific and the wife allows it!.. came across an original owner 1985.5 tri z "special addition" is what they called it I guess? I've read a couple different opinions on that.. anyway it came with all original paperwork from the dealership that the gentleman both worked at and bought it from+quite a few sweet extras and well once she was in the garage I set out to get all the tri z years..came across a real nice 86 a few days later, swooped it up for a little more $then I would have preferred however supply and demand n what not.. then I put an ad up for tri z wanted and got the call about the 85 pictured above (while there a honda 110 was mentioned and loaded up as well) So that's it.. I got real lucky in finding them all and being able to get my hands on it.

In my area that's a $500 bike. Considering what it will take to get it fully rebuilt, then yea he paid a good price since he doesn't have anything into it really.

If you find $50 two stroke trikes that complete, I will gladly pay shipping to get that to my house lol. I couldn't even buy a 70 with no motor for $50 here in PA, let alone stuff like that. Nice find, making us all jealous haha.

You all are missing the point. You can either buy a rustbucket and put 2500 into it or you can buy a nice runner for 1500 and save yourself the labor. I'd never pay 500 dollars for something that i was going to completely rebuild. And yes, there are abandoned trikes all over the midwest that people will sell for next to nothing. Also, when I see a two stroke sitting in the weeds, unless i'm gonna part it out, I leave it right there where it belongs.

Exactly. You can't even find 2 strokes down here. I went to look at a 200x and the guy wouldn't go below 750. The thing was beat all to hell, rusted, smoking and didn't even have brake calipers or rear fender. Twenty years ago that one would be $100 bucks but not any more.

As a Kansas dweller, I can agree.

    1975 ATC 90 - $50 running
    1980 YT125 - $75 running
    1983 YT175 - $200 running
1983 YTM 200 - $100 running. No decomp cables or air box.
    1983 KLT200c - $300 running.
1985 200m - traded a $50 computer for it. - running, gas tank shot. sprockets+chain worn out. Fenders trashed

1983 YT175 - Not running, needed piston. $40. Had piston on shelf. Now running, still only $40
1984 Tecate - $250, not running. no stator or flywheel. Engine leaked air, had to rebuild and reseal. Now running.
1985 Tecate - $250 +old 250 ninja w/o title. Not running came with tons of after market parts and almost enough to build another machine (frame+ front end, engine(s), Pipes, +6 axel, +4diy swinger, PVL, etc)

    For the un trikes

2000 arctic cat 300 2x4 - $250 - not running, missing back wheels. cam timing slipped. Reset timing, fixed cam chain tensioner, now running.
*1985 LT250e - Came with with arctic cat. Had locked up engined. Freed up, has spark, never did any more with it.
1978 XL250s - $75 not running. Adjusted valves, running. I miss this bike. Had no title, but it was an enduro.
1998 Blaster - traded the xl250s for the blaster - running, all stock with a 68mm piston (max bore), had no bumper.
2 Blasters - $350. 1 had no spark. Plugged wires in correctly. Has spark, runs. Other had no compression. Piston rings installed upside down. New piston and rings - runs.
350 Warrior and a chinese quad - both rollers with no engines. $75 for both. Has paddles.
I just wanna go fast. If your not first, your last!!
