    Really confused..correct spark plug?

I have a 1983 Honda ATC 110. Feb 1983. I now have found three different spark plugs for my atc. When I bought it, it had a D8HA in it. Origional service manual says it should be a DR8ES-L ( which I bought and the piston head smashed it....) Called a local honda shop and they said I need a DR8HS which I read it is exactly the same as a D8HA but the DR8HS has a resistor and the D8HA does not. I just want to know what the correct one is to go in my ATC

Is that screenshot from an aftermarket manual? Seems like it since it generalizes so much. I think you're experience proves that the manual you have isn't accurate. I found an owners manual for the 82 110 which calls out the DR8HS, which proves the manual in the screenshot wrong.

    I'd stick with the DR8HS.

Sucks that the Clymer manual mislead you as well

I made a thread about their incorrect plug listing after I nicked the intake valve with wrong spark plug.

This is why I will always go to on line parts fiche and check spark plug application for everything I own

Compression test would cover that, super low and likely there is a hole, or the rings/valves have an issue.

I've seen them bend the valve about 5 times, never piston damage. Just make sure it is a short plug in the right heat range and no resistor if you're out in the woods away from civilization.NO long plugs in 110's !
Please help those who cannot help themselves.

ALWAYS buying Museum quality machines,3 and 4 wheels. And any and ALL ,NOS parts,EVERY brand.
