    TRX 70 spark issue

I have an 86 trx70 project. New stator, ignition, cdi, cylinder, piston and head. Before the new cylinder and new head it would start but smoked like no tomorrow. I had replaced the rings on the old piston, still smoking like a the old misquote trucks. So new head. It is all stock set up. So now I get spark in the ignition wire, but not from the spark plug. Brand new plug. Switched it out with a plug I know works from my 250sx and still no spark from the plug. So what's the deal? This seems crazy
When I check continuity from one plug end to the other I get no reading on either plug. Normal? Any thoughts please.

yea probably just a bad cap if your getting spark from the wire. any cap should work so try that and report back.

Unscrew the plug and cut 1/4" off of the plug wire and then screw the cap back on. See if you get spark then.

Funny thing is I pulled a cap off a trike that I know works and it didn't work either. And I have cut back the wire as well to get a fresh place to screw the cap on. Does anyone know how to test the caps with an amp meter and what the readings for a good cap vs. bad cap are?

Hmmm bad plug wire making contact internally when holding plug to head , or bad connection at coil?

Is the 86 TRX70 a 6volt or 12volt system?? I took readings on my ignition coil, new ignition coil and it has readings that correlate to a 12v coil. Am I trying to use a 12v coil on a 6v system??

I now see it is a 12v system. So, the ignition tests out ok. And I found a spark plug cap that tests out ok. Had some carb issues to fix and then try again
