Belzona 1111

Anyone ever use Belzona 1111 Super Metal? Is it any good? Got an engine block with a crack in the valley near the lifter bore that I'm going to use this stuff on soon. Just trying to get a little bit more life from it until i can get the motor i want ...The application range on this stuff is impressive to say the least.

Ok got this stuff ordered and mixed some up. Eyeballed a 3-to-1 ratio in some plastic spoons, not following the mixing recommendations perfectly(you're supposed to have a heat lamp on it while it cures for best results) Waited 2 days, and i gotta say even just throwing some together, THIS IS SOME RIGHT STUFF! The puddle i mixed, after it gets more than say 1/8" thick, i cannot break with my fingers. Pictures and results to follow!

Our millwrights use it to repair flange faces and such in high pressure applications. They have had excellent results; and yes it is just like steel when cured.

I'm thinking it will do just fine for a crack in my water jacket then! Never had a whole lot of luck with JB Weld in a place that needed any kind of structural support.

If i have a good bit left over i might start picking up broken sprocket covers and giving them new life

Works for gas tanks to. Dad fixed the cracked steel tank on his tiller almost 10 years ago, still holding now.

Update, finally got around to this, pictures are from before i finished, still needs another layer and some sanding on the deck surface. With a little luck, and a healthy coating of copper spray-a-gasket, i can get away with it for a while, it just needs to run a couple months.

This company was suggested to me to use on my 250R crank that had the stator side journal wore down as it is machinable after curing. I never tried it though.

Indeed it is. I have yet to turn any of it, but i did put a good chunk of it in the vise on a bridgeport and cut it into a square with a 5/16 end mill. It cuts like aluminum.

No doubt in my mind that it is durable. My only real concern is the thermal expansion rate differences and how that is going to affect longevity. It should be going back together next week so we will see soon enough.

I'm sure I'll find some other uses for it down the road even if this doesn't hold.

Well, after several heat cycles getting it dialed in, a 5 minute drive, and a separate 10 minute drive, I don't see any water mixing with the oil yet! I was a little nervous about running that motor for the first time with the thermostat installed and antifreeze in the radiator but so far so good!
