    Ive got a monster.. now what? 200x w 650 4cyl

so its an old build, needs some refreshing, and retweaking, needs a little bit of everything. main points needing attention are suspension and exhaust. its got car exhaust pipes run under the oil pan for protection. I want to do a dual exhaust in stock location, and mirror that on the other side. I'm thinking, something around a 350x. since a 350x has twin exhaust ports, anyone done a 350x true dual? I think that would be a good place to start. secondly what would be a good diameter for the exhaust? the smallest diameter i can find is 1.25 and 1.5. my thought was use a conduit bender to make my own bends, but I'm going to see if I can adapt some other exhaust pipe first, then see what there is for custom options. any input would help. I'm also going to have to make an air box, as there never was one. its tight to say the least, but thinking i can use exhaust tubing, for the intake too. but get there soon. right now just focusing on the exhaust...

HI, That chasis was not designed for that heavy of a powerplant. I would pull that boat anchor out and find a 200 engine... a stock 200x will out handle you all day long. just my .02 $

well it survived 15 years of abuse, so I beg to differ, no signs of frame cracks, so I'd say it did okay..

Why so small an engine? Put a V-8 in it.

Do you ever have problems with clearance?

I would honestly just part it out if it were me. Not really usable off-road without significant frame and suspension work. Really only good for straight lines as is

I've got my R for all around fun, I got it cause it was cheap, I agree its not going to be very trail friendly, but, I think it might be fun to see if I can make it trail friendly, a good challenge, and yes it scrapes, clearance sucks! I think its a flat, go fast kinda terrain kinda thing as is, might be good for the sand, dunno.. Going to see how it does with some good tires (20-22's) its already been lifted in the front about 3" frankly its one of those things thats never going to be perfect, or good at anything, accept acceleration, so, call it what it is, beat the snot out of it, and have some fun trying to keep it under control, thats fun enough for me lol....

It was cheap, it'll be more work putting it back to original than it's worth. Beat the snot out of it and have fun doing it. You'll get your money's worth in smiles and miles. When you send a rock through the bottom cases then you can figure out if you wanna swap it lol.

That's sad and great at the same time haha. ... well you will certainly have to build your own exhaust, but I really really doubt you will be able to put it in the stock location. Build some zoomies! turn them out to the side like big 2 stroke drag pipes! I would think 1.25 would work fine. You could also put bigger tires on to increase clearance, like 25s. And I agree that you should ride the snot out of it! someone already kinda wrecked it so might as well suck as much fun out of it as possible!
Atc 500x for the win! (Hopefully.... one day)

I will be surprised if you do anything with it.

Most guys show the creations they bought or built in one thread with dreams and aspirations of straight line dragging or racing. Then after about a month of trying to mess with it they give up and the thread is never to be heard from again.

Shock us all, get out there and do something with it and then post a video.

Oh and BTW, first order of business would be to get rid of those 200x forks and whatever the hell they did to extend them in the triple.

Holy God I did not even see the fork set up in the clamps, that is awesome. Top nut goes loose and all steering is gone. Great setup!

I'd say, most people who work on crap like this, after reading 20 posts of "its never going to work" and 1 post actually answering a question, usually say f it and find info somewhere else.. ive been on this forum for about 10 years, because between google, and winging it, I've got by just fine, I really don't care if I fix it, blow it up, or sell it, ive never built anything for anyone else, just me, and when ever i get around to it.. I will lol.. after 5 years of getting my other one how I like it (mostly) its time to dicker with something new.. truth be told what i wanted to build was a 350x with a 650l single, but this wreck popped up, so, what the hell.. lol

gotta take the good with the bad brotha! If nothing else, this site tells you how it feels. i wonder what kind of feedback you were expecting. That thing is outside the box, and she's got flaws. expecting to post it out there and to have people ignore the obvious is unrealistic. One of my big verbal crutches is "It is what it is." Well, that rig is what it is. Ride the snot out of it and call it a day. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about exhaust angles or the airbox.
