Anybody planning on going to the Olympics?

Make sure you want to go..........

Police hit by Rio de Janeiro’s cash crisis have threatened to strike during the Olympics, warning tourists that they are at risk in the city as officers and firefighters are not being paid.

Amid demonstrations across Rio, officers rolled out a banner reading “Welcome to hell” in the arrivals hall at the international airport. "Whoever comes to Rio de Janeiro will not be safe," it said.

Union leaders said they had not ruled out a strike during Rio 2016, which begins on August 5. The security operation for Games venues is due to go into action on Tuesday, July 5.

“Unfortunately, living and working in this state has been a real hell,” the union for civil police officers (ColPol) in Rio said in a statement.

“So far more than 50 officers have been killed and more than 300 shot this year alone in Rio de Janeiro.”

The protest came after Francisco Dornelles, the acting state governor, announced that public finances were in a “state of calamity” and warned of the possible collapse of key services including security and health.
They can't even put up the money to ensure they can meet their commitments to host the games.

    What next? Olympics in Detroit?

    Socialism at it's finest..........

How far out do you think we are . It's a little ways down the street, but it is in sight. Should be interesting,,after all,it is sports,,,THE biggest thing "they " have to keep the mindless eyes off the prize. If it gets bad enough, our military will probably pull guard. Just saw this today and it is Soooo good . Man was a genius.

Well I guess that changes my plans. I could have been a contender in the 12 ounce beer curling event. It isn't the weight that counts, it's the repetitions.

I went to the winter olympics when they were in Vancouver Canada. Had to put our names in for raffles of events we wanted to see. We got hockey Norway vs Canada. Sister in law got that and USA vs Canada. Frick in awesome. Also got a ski jump event. Badddd assss. We also went to the luge event, the course that a man died slamming into a column during practice trials. The had to remove like 100 feet or something because the course was too fast. They were flying. Also a biathlon. Kinda boring, but something to do. Ski jump and biathlon, and louge were held up at Whistler. Beautiful up there, and for those that haven't been to Vancouver, it is very nice. Only about a 4-5 hour drive for us. Us and some friends rented some rvs and stayed at a RV Park For A week. Kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. Although getting stopped at customs is another story.
