    250 ES/SX Timing Chain Guides.

Been gathering up the pieces to do a top end rebuild on my 250sx, motor smoked, and timing chain had a bad rattle to it. The only hold up seems to be new timing chain guides. It appears the OEM Honda ones are discontinued, yet after searching it almost seems like they substitute up to a new number, but I haven't been able to confirm this.

This is the guide on the backside of the cylinder, the tensioner side is the same deal.

Which almost seems like it should sub up to
    http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detai...0-HC4-005.html

Both part numbers are listed as fitting an '88 TRX250X, so makes me think they're the same part.
    Can anyone confirm this?

Obviously there is a difference in the two parts that drive the two different part numbers. what that difference is I can't say. Its really a hard question to answer without having both part numbers in your hand to compare.

One clearly states 'use up to' a certain serial number and one states "Use from" or after a certain #. There was a change of some kind and it showed up in the 88 model.

What I don't get is why you are sourcing parts for a trx250x. The engine is not the same as a 250es/sx.

There are both chain guides on eBay Australia at the moment for the 250es. If that helps you any.

I just used that as an example, as both part numbers are listing as fitting the '88 trx250x. I got to that first part number by going through the parts fiche of an '85 250sx.

What's throwing me off is this
    http://www.ghdiscountatvsupply.com/1...-u-s-shipping/

Says it fits the 250es, but's listed under that newer number.

There is a couple NOS ones on ebay, but by the time I bought both sides I would be getting close to $200 Canadian. I'll listen to a little timing chain noise before I spend that.

I think whenever I get my sx motor torn down, I'm going to try and find someone I known with a trx300 motor or something torn down and compare the two guides, to see what the actual difference is.
