Parts go on riders; they should come from riders.
I understand its a necessary evil. Just saddens me to think about it and the fact the guy was able to make someone an offer they couldn't refuse on it, simply because he would double his money anyway. Wonder would he have sold it had he known its fate?

It was nice enough he kept the plastics for himself.

$220 minimum is a lot of money for an axle that will end up on a rider. You can take your axle to a machine shop and have it straightened.

Will they just cold bend it in a floor press? Ive got one thats bent on the very end at where the threads start. Can it be straightened too?

Nice parts must come from nice donors. The parts may help a few that are building. I wish someone woud start tearing down some Tecates!

Yes, and, with the right mind on the job, more than likely yes. It would depend on the amount of damage.

I snagged the front tire for $60, it was a 1985 250r/350x front tire in really great shape. I think it was under-priced, thanks for the link Dirtcrasher

How do you know this? Many west coast trikes metal parts stay "dry" and the plastics fade and get brittle.

You could sell crack rocks and make a lot of money but that doesn't really justify it.

This is just like when you buy an old gun and it was put together by different guns. Sure it's all factory but the numbers don't match and not worth that much.

Why destroy a perfect example to make a bunch of halfassed ones?

It's business; He can quadruple what he probably paid for it.

I don't think many of us like this parting out of mint machines, but it's kept my 6 boys in excellent shape for over a decade!!

Remember this, a person who really has a passion for his or her trikes would never sell them anyway.

I've had my 86 250SX since 1998; Many people here have owned them even longer.....

The BEST 85 200X parts you will ever find!!

I have owned my Tecate since 1996. At some point I had to sell all my other bikes out of monetary necessity. I had my 200x from 86-93. My 185s from 84-98. My 350x from 93-98. My first Tri-Z from 95-99. (Got married in 1998. Had first child in 1999.) I regretted letting each one go and it pains me to think about it now. These machines have been the stuff of dreams for me since my grandad got that 110 in 1979. I hadn't even learned to ride a bicycle yet. I knew these things were special and I am saddened that they will eventually be all but gone.

Oh and as far as it just being business, that is a poor excuse in my book because this scavenger hunt business is just some slacker way of making a buck without ever having to lift a damn finger. These type of bums need to get a job and quit buying up everything so they can turn around a jack up the price when they sell it on eBay. Like at Christmas time Every year the same effing thing, toy stores can't keep anything in stock with weirdos running around to all the stores buying all the popular items in bulk so they corner the market and jack the price up on eBay. Now it's on parts. The guys selling old stock or stripping Junkers, or better yet making new parts I can appreciate but not not these ticket scalper part salesman.

ahh you have a good point. Around here the thing could be rusted in half with decent plastic...I sure would've liked to see them up there too though!
