I'm guessing 350-400 lbs. I shot him at about 150 yds. with a Browning x-bolt 300 winchester short mag. Nozzler trophy grade ammo.

Nice Ram! How many years did you wait for a tag? Much of a pack out? Any Grizzlies in the area?

I sound like a three year old with the questions ;-)

Yes sir. We were expecting to have to shoot about 4-500 yds.

I'm a lucky one 8-9 years. Some people go their whole life and never draw a tag. The pack out was 11-12 miles. Mostly flat and downhill, one hill climb about 750 ft in elevation. As far a grizzlies we didn't see any, or cougars for that matter.

Beautiful country, Southern Cali/New Mexico? So I'm guessing you flew in, hooked up with a guide/wrangler who brought you up to a base camp, or do I have it wrong? I've always wanted to try and pack in with horses; although they scare the ship out of me ;-)

Eastern Oregon. We rented a plane to get a better look at places we wanted to hunt, and try to spot sheep if we could. It was a little windy so the pilot couldn't fly to close, so we weren't able to spot any sheep. My brothers buddy and some of his buddies packed us in on their roping horses. 6 mules and 6 horses. We did have an pretty bad accident on our pack in to base camp. One of the horses lost its footing, pretty steep and rocky terrain. The horse spun 180 and my buddy lean wrong and pulled the horse over and it landed on him pinning his leg. It powerbombed him into the ground. Lucky, he couldn't have went down in a better spot. His head missed a basket ball size rock by less than a foot. Pretty scary. Luckily only a separated shoulder. Him and my brother hiked out 4 miles and took him to the er. We continued on. It's about 8 miles from the truck/trailed to base camp. It felt like a 4 hour rodeo. I hurt for days.
