    200r 83 now a 300r airfooler

Iv had this trike since early 90s. Switched motors a few times. up until few weeks ago it was a 300r. Awhile back my Uncle told me about a friend of a friend of his that was getting rid of some 200r parts. I told him I was interested a week or so later I went and picked up the parts. I was mostly interested in the motor. From what my Uncle told me the builder was a wiz machinist back in the day and built this 200r motor . Its destroked long rod. It was designed to use stock pistons and topends. I put the motor in my 83 250r and raced it in the 200 class at Geneva. Im still getting used to the powerband its more like a 125 high strung. Im kinda commited to secrecy on any other details of the motor. Click image for larger version.

I had a spare 40 over cylinder collecting dust and a 60 over Wiseco piston for and 84 250r. Dropped it off at the Machine shop last week . Got it back today. Its going on my 200r.Also adding a DG head pipe ,intake and Radial head and possibly a Mossbarger 8 pedal reed cage. I also removed a broken exhaust stud on this cylinder. That's a really neat machine. Are you going to race it in the 200 class this year at paradise?
Looking for a Bassani silencer for a 2nd gen tecate, the style with the movable mount. 1st gen will work

I had my 1st race of the 2017 season Saturday 4/29. Took the 200r and my 200x. Raced the 200r in the 200 class. Didn't do real well they changed the track layout and my 3rd gear was gone had to shift from 2nd to 4th . On the open part of the track that wasn't to bad the corners is were I needed 3rd.Still had fun. Raced the 200x in the open class for points didn't want to put to much on the 200r.Its getting new tranny and shift forks tonite next race Sat. 5/6.Hoping to get 85 250r done this week for the open class. New look for 200r DG headpipe and Coffman aluminum silencer. 21x7x10 Fast Treker front tire and 85 250r front hub.and new riding gear.Click image for larger version.

I knew before hand. Last September I locked the trans up at an MX practice. I removed the chain and got it back in neutral. I took it for a quick ride at the pits at MX track seemed to shift well.Saturday morning I finished up some other things like fork seals smaller front tire and little things.I did a carb adjustment and wanted to test it .So I took it out on the trails and when I shifted to 3rd it locked the rear tires. I took it again to see if I had anything past 3rd and I still had 4th and 5th. So I decided to take the 200r for 200 class and the 200x as backup and decided to run it in open class to get points.I got 7th in 200 class and 10th in open. Fred Morrell won open class on his TC 86 200x.And someone says 200xs aren't competitive agains 250rs .Fred also beat out a big bore z and r.

As long as work allows it I'll make it out the the needt paradise race in a couple weeks. I like the way the new track looks, what do you think? It looks the the one section of the track is too narrow but other than that it looks good. Are you going to race the circle track series before the needt race?

They aren't in general, and it takes more money to make one competitive than it does to make a 250r competitive . That was definitively proven years ago . Rider skill is likely the difference you are currently seeing.

Sorry Barn that statement was ment to be a little sarcastic.lol. The new layout of the track is more 4 stroke friendly than 2 stroke. Plus Fred is an awesome racer hes been racing since the 80s.

lol, no prob . All that matters is that you are having fun no matter what you ride or what place you finish in, and that was my philosophy the entire time I raced, even in the Pro class, but I have seen countless racers all pissed off and throwing their helmets and other things after a race for one reason or another and I quietly laughed my a_s off and thought, "Thank God that isn't me.". I even laughed out loud right at Eddie Warren when I was assigned as his tuner for the Loretta Lynn Nationals when he threw his helmet off and started swearing after he came back from one race, and when he saw me laughing at him he started laughing too, it was pretty funny . He won the next race by a mile.

As far as 4 stroke engines go, I have built countless 4 stroke engines, and they can definitely be made to haul a_s and are a blast to ride . As long as something had an engine, I would have fun riding it.
