I used to race with him and the Honda guys mentioned on other pages before they were Honda. I got to race at the Riverside Score race. Even though my ATC seized it was the coolest race ever. My sponsor (KYSH 3 x 4) had some pants made for me with ATC on the legs and everyone from Honda came over and said Where'd you get those we dont even have that. It was such a thrill to come off of the dirt to pavement (tires squealing) and see the stand packed with people (they ran us right before the heavy metal trucks).
Anybody know where Mike Chester is?
After my racing career ended I did some race promoting and put on the Mini Baja at Indian Dunes.
Ace passed away some 14-16 years after the accident. He never recovered and was in a "coma" sort of. His eyes were open but no one was there. I visited him at a treatment center in Tustin, California and at his home. It was an injury that damaged his spinal cord and information from the brain could not get to the body (that's the short version as I know it). When Ace passed away, I went with his family (I rode with his brother Walt) to the dunes where they scattered his ashes. I still get sad about that whole situation.

Not sure what happened to Mike Chester. He's around.

I'm still around too. I got so mad about what Ebay did with the problem with my 3Wheeling Magazines I hide for awhile. It was draining at best. I still have many magazines left. I think I still have one with Ace on the cover.

P.S. I found the Honda pants and jersey I wore on the cover of 3Wheeling Magazine. They are in pretty worn...but the memories are there. I washed them. The jersey is torn under one arm. Good times!

Hey Robin, It's me Jeff. Do you remember me? I met you at your house several months ago (or has it been a year now?) and you sold me several issues to complete the albums I was putting together of all the 3Wheeling Magazines. It's nice to see you on here and thanks for signing my magazine back board and sending me the autographed post card from Brenda Fox. I also recently got to meet the associate publisher of 3Wheeling magazine, Dean Kirsten. He was really cool and shared some stories. I recently went to Barona casino and drove past your house. I almost thought to call you and say "Meet me at Barona". Haha, I hope all is well and take care!! I thought Dean's maibox was cool too so I even took a picture of that. I hope that's ok Dean? :-)

Hiya Jeff. Call any time. If you are in the neighborhood come over and play a game of pool! I have not forgotten that you were here! I have more magazines left. I even found another box of them. So I have to go through them and see what I have. Most of them are 3&4 Wheel Action and Dirt Wheels. I'm sure Dean has some great stories...even of me! Hiya Dean! Good to see ya!

Maybe you can help me...I don't know if I'm in the right spot. I have a 1984 200YTM and my sprocket flew off of the camshaft. Now I've found the part and part number but the picture doesn't look anything like it. The bore of the sprocket is 1 inch and there are teeth that lock it into place followed by a bolt to hold it on. I'm confused about the whole situation and I would love to drive it this weekend. Thanks for your help.

Hey Jeff! It's been a few years. I was checking out the thread and saw this post. The last post was 2010. Now it's 2013 and I'm moving away from California to Texas and taking the rest of my magazines with me. There's a guy in Minnesota (Brad) that wants some and I have not forgotten about him. Most of my stuff has been packed for about a year now as we got the house ready for selling. I had it on the market last year over the summer...but the elections and the bad economy blew that attempt (as well as a rookie realtor). I put it on the market this year and have had two buyers, but it fell out of escrow TWICE! I can't wait to get OUT of California. When I get to Texas, I'll unpack my stuff and see what magazines I have left. There are still alot. When cleaning out the house for selling, I found a whole other box of them! It's amazing what you collect when you live in one place for 40 years! I thought about putting up my email but it will get spammed out. Just send me a private message and I'll get back to you. I hope all is well!

Hello Robin, good to see you on the boards. My best friend gave me an issue of 3wheeling mag for my 53rd Birthday with Mean Dean on the cover( Flash Dance) with the fire blazing under his tires. I threw all my mags away 25 years ago (probably because I wore them out) And ditched all my trophies. Except one from Mickey Thompson and the Yamaha Gold Cup I won in Texas. But Terry kept a bunch of his , the pack rat , Lol. Anyway welcome aboard and hope your move goes well....

Hi Keith. Thanks for the well wishes on our move. I'm quite excited! California is getting too expensive and has gone to hell-in-a-handbasket. SDG&E is raising our electrical rates 12% and our gas tax is going up 3.5 cents this summer. It's nuts out here. Not even the desert or weather is good enough anymore! We decided on Texas because of its conservative values, booming economy and the ability to have our guns. We though of Arizona but it's still too much in the shadow of California and too close. We will be taking a vacation when we move and are going to visit Tombstone. Maybe we'll stay there! lol Even after selling most of my magazines, I still have plenty. While packing for the move, I found another box of them! I save them all....I guess my pack-rat trait from my dad was a good thing! I also used to have all my trophies dating back to Speedway 117. But in packing for the move I decided to ditch the trophies but I kept the plates off them and will mount them on a plaque. The trophies were falling apart anyway. That was way back in 1977...it was amazing they lasted that long...but they had been in my garage all that time and never moved...so they were frozen in time! I'll let you all know when I move. I'm sorry that I have not been more active on this board...but getting the house ready for moving and showing the house is so time consuming. ugh. I'll be glad when we can head east and go on vacation!

    Awesome Tread!

When I first found 3WW this was the first tread I read. 3Wheeling Magazine was definitely the magazine for all things 3 Wheeler. I can remember seeing the first issue. A friend had a copy and we almost got into it because I would not give it back. I could not believe there was a magazine devoted exclusively to 3 wheelers. The problem was they were only available on the news stand for quiet a while. (you had better be on the ball because most places only got two or three copies) They did not start off offering subscriptions. They had to see if it was going to take off and take off it did. There were 3 wheelers all over the US at that time but SoCal got all the attention with the help of 3Wheeling Magazine. I say 3Wheeling Magazine help Honda build their unbeatable atc race team.

Dean I know you arent on here much anymore but I want to thank you for all you did for the Sport of 3Wheeling. The ATC and 3Wheeling Magazine changed the World. You were there in the middle of it when it was happening. Thanks again for all your knowledge and insite on what was going on during that time.

Here is my 3Wheeling Magazine Moment

During the early 80's my family made a trip from Tennessee to California just to check out the 3 wheeling scene in SoCal. We went to all the Speed and Custom shops, Johnnys S&C, Dico, Dannys Machine Works, Johnsons ATC/Mini Truck, and others. We also checked out the race scene. Went to a National in Santa Cruz and a local race at the Ventura co. fairgrounds. But the Highlight of the trip was getting to meet Dean Kirsten. The associate publisher of 3Wheeling Magazine. He was a super nice guy that took plenty of time to talk to some goofie kids who just had to meet him. I'll never forget it.

    Micky,

I might have some old photos of you. Did you race in San Diego at the Sports Arena? It was only a one time deal and many of the old guys were there. I was taking photos. It was 1983 or something. What number were you and I will search my photos.

Yes I was there,my number was #19. I won,Marty Hart was second and I don't remember who was third.

I'm trying to organize my 3 wheeler career from all the magazine articles my mom saved 30 years ago. If you have pics please send them to me here 4STROKE@EMBARQMAIL.COM or go to my web site. http://www.fourstroketech.net/

    Thanks!

    Mickey,

I'll look through my photos. I'm SURE I have some of you. I remember. Now I just have to find them. I recently moved from California to Texas and we are just getting settled in the house. I have one of you on the podium for sure....and I think racing on the track. I'll email you soon.
