    Stolen!!

2006 kx450f stolen from my barn on Tuesday night. Please be on the lookout for it. The low lifes got in the window and wheeled it out the door. I filled out a police report so the VIN should come up stolen. Can't believe this happened where I live. I only got about 2 hours of sleep once I found out. I pray for the return of my bike and for proper justice on the thieves. Security measures have been put up so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Keep a close eye on CL for someone selling parts, especially in high volume. Most crooks who do this regularly are clever enough to not try and sell the complete bike but will usually part out. Sorry you got violated.... I despise a dirty thief! Glad your 400x didn't get taken!

Sorry to hear bud. Ya have to have good security for this stuff!! The 1st place I'd look is at anyones house that new you had that and it would be a quick grab. I hate to say it, but friends and or casual acquaintances are usually involved in it somehow.

The other thing I do is never leeve my trike outside without it being hidden. People drive by, they see you washing it and now they know what you have....

I've got an alarm that gives you 10 seconds to enter the code and 4 security cameras that go directly to a hard drive; They are also chained together whenever the shop is picked up....

Man that sucks ! We put steel bars on the windows in the shop and a steel door with a steel frame to keep them out of the shop again lol Locks only keep the honest thieves out.

I'm paranoid. I will meet at a nearby gas station for Craigslist deals etc. I'm sorry to hear. I would be pissed too.

Sorry to hear this Matt. It makes me sick to hear about stuff like this. I agree with Dirtcrasher, my first suspicion would be somebody who'd been in the barn before (present company excluded, of course) and knew what was in there. I'm not sure how much you advertised that you had the bike (sitting out in front of the house, or riding it a lot, or having friends of friends over, etc) so if it was always tucked away in there, I'd really think it was somebody who knew what they were going there for. Was anything else taken? If not, it doesn't seems like a random thief (who'd probably have loaded up with tools and anything else they could get). I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out on CL though for you. The Detroit Metro CL is packed with machines usually.

I'm not sure of the technicalities and sensitivities, but do you want to share the VIN with us? Just in case...

Here is a picture of the VIN. Lots of people could have seen the bike. My barn is fairly close to the road and recently the bike was in plain view if the barn door was open. Security hasn't been an issue around here. I have the busiest house in the neighborhood. Cars always in the driveway and at least 1 person is home at any given time. Lots of people around here leave their stuff unlocked. Things have certainly changed. I boarded up all the windows, put up 3 motion lights, and put a padlock on the door. Coming soon are curtains for all the windows and ADT is coming out next week. Already had them for the house.

that sux... not only that the bike was stolen but that just knowing someone snuck into your garage ...your property, your castle... and stole something is the worst! id start watching all the local want ads and craigslist and other places used to buy /sell stuff, it may turn up... also watch around the local riding areas for anything weird like someone showing up with new parts on their bikes, like new plastics or rims and tires that were like yours... find out where they bought them. hell, you may get lucky and the thief was some idiot kid who just paints the bike and goes out riding locally and you'll see him. i mean a bike like that even painted a different color is gonna stand out. who paints a perfectly good bike some goofy color other than the stock color? lol tell everyone you know about it and id even put up signs in the local shops, garages and gas stations and even places like diners... if the thief is a local hopefully you'll spot it or someone else will. Good Luck!
