    Rear caliper was stuck.

When you add up the cost of the rebuild kit and pads and a parking brake block off plate I could buy one of those new ones on ebay for nearly the same. It would be entirely new........ shinnier and less work but. .......I guess not original.

Piston looks serviceable.Although there's corrosion on the caliper housing I'll just clean it and rebuild.

I just started the same on my 86. I scored a rear caliper for $35 with "stripped out pins. Stuck". Took me fifteen minutes to get the hex pins out. I stripped off the paint too while I had to stripped down to the housing but after new seals and whatnot, I'll have a caliper that's near new for $75.

I'm glad you rebuilt the old one. With a new unit, you're only gaining a new housing and pistons which usually don't wear out any time soon anyway.

    Perfect. $75 is great

Once I let the entire caliper soak in the phosphoric acid mix it cleaned the powder coating on the caliper nicely. There some pitting on the parking brake side but it will work. I purchased "El cheapo" pads for $7......a rebuild kit for the caliper for $17...... and a blue block plate (I don't know why I chose blue) for $15. So for $40.....the price of a new China one on ebay.........I will have a solid performing rebuilt original.

The only thing I cheaply painted thus far are the foot pegs and perhaps will do the skid plate. I just strip and prime and paint with a dupli-color paint. Not very durable but very easy.

A quick acid bath for the disc cleans it up.

I would rather have a 250R than a banshee. My nephews have banshees. Nice mounts but a well sorted out R for me sounds good.

I'm going to keep this X for a while. My wife is showing a tinnie, itsy bitsy, little.......minute interest in it so I want this one setup properly.

I just need to finish 2 of my projects before I do anything else. That's my goal post. This 200X and an old CB750 that I may setup for track days......I don't know yet. These have been sitting around for awhile so I need to complete

ummm...I think what you need to do is sell me that old 71 Chevelle that is taking up so much room in your garage that could be used for storing a few more nice bikes.

El is right on the mark.....it's a catch can. That pic is about a year old and some of the other items have changed since.......like the little breather filters on the side that just drip oil out when on the freeway.

Its a 76 F. The build sheets fairly extensive but the motor mods are stock. I rebuilt it with OEM internals with perhaps one day getting into the engine if I ever wanted to race it. Lately I have been considering putting this into service.

For over a year I've been looking for a suitable track bike for WERA sportsman or similar that was already wired, safetied, etc.

I cam across this awhile back. It was 2K but from Canada and shipping would put the total investment at 3K. Suspension needed attention but the good this is is that it had a spare motor and almost enough parts for another motor. I still thought I could find something closer.

Then this 350 came up and it was really what I wanted. It went for $2500 and from New Hampshire if I remember so shipping was around $600. The neat thing about it was it had a winning pedegree and numerous parts and mods that would make it somewhat competitive (excluding my lack of skills). It was absolutely ready to race. But at the time I had 2 trikes apart, my HT1 in progress and a yz250 apart. I've been married 28 years so I knew how far to push the boundaries of my addiction and felt this purchase might put it over the top so I stepped back.

So I agreed to finish the bulk of my projects before I endeavor on another.

I'm also working on my HT1 but as indicated by the photo....it's almost completed so I really don't count that.

Thanks Chop. As soon as I get a little ahead on this X I will.

I'm going to start the rear master. I don't think I can remember a time when any stuck master piston ever came out quietly. It's always been war for me
