Now the Best part, rear suspension!
I ordered 90-04 Yamaha Warrior 350 swing arm to adapt to the bike, and it almost bolts onto the 185s carrier/axle. The top two bolt holes are a direct bolt on. The swing arm carrier mounts are about a 1/4" to 1/2" narrower than the 185s carrier is, so that will give me a little wiggle room to adjust left or right for chain alignment. The bottom two that are slotted don't quite match up, but there is enough room to drill new holes and run a bolt on chain-tensioner.
As far as mounting it to the frame, I would love to fit it in between the motor and frame for strength but I just don't think there is enough room there, so it might have to be mounted outside the frame from the motor. I drew up the mounts I'm thinking of creating to use with it. The mounts will be 3/4" wide with two 1/8" plates and a sleeve welded between the two plates. The sleeve will be the old pivot tube, cut up, since I got a new one with the swing arm rebuild kit I got, so there won't be any slop.
Depending on whether it gets mounted inside or outside the frame it will add 4"-6" to the wheelbase.
I'm setting it up for 20" rear tires and a 23" front tire. Front tire will be a Kenda Front Max and I haven't decided on the rear yet, but it will be 20x10-9. I'm going to try and get the countershaft, pivot bolt, and axle in as straight of line as I can, accounting for sag due to rider weight.
Not sure if I can use it yet but I have a 92 YZ250 rear shock I'd like to use since I had it on a
parts bike and its basically free.
