Got the frame painted and assembled and everything back together. I ordered a different needle from jetsrus and it’s perfect. Carb is completely tuned now. Running a 110 main jet, 36Q needle on the second leanest clip, and a 38 slow jet. Ended up going with a 3rd gen R fender for the front. I’ll buy a new rear 185s fender at some point to make it look all fresh. Bike is coming along nicely. I want a front max for the front tire but absolutely nobody has one that isn’t on back order so not sure what front tire I’ll go with.

I agree. It's looking really good. Now you just have to figure out something to cover up the space between the forks (side ti side) and the triples (up and down). You could get real crazy and mount a radiator there so it looks more like a first gen Tecate.
Thanks guys. I kinda think I want to fab up an old school looking headlight cage for dual round lights. Like Baja style. Or I might just do a number plate or a second gen headlight setup. Not completely sure. It’d funny you mention the radiator because I have a 92 yz 250 engine that I will put in there if this motor ever dies and I figured I’d put a tecate style rad there if I ever went that route

Fabbed up a quick little mount out of some flat steel to use a 200m headlight I had without modifying the headlight or the triple cuz I just needed a headlight option for a ride I went on. This will more than likely be temporary.
I had a friend with some Kenda Gecko paddle tires so I elected to borrow them for the ride I went on this weekend. The place was a big sand pit and had several hill climbs and whoop sections. With the swing arm being so long the bike did awesome on the hill climbs although it could use some more power. I was able to make up for it with speed though. The R and yz suspension setup I have soaked up the whoops great. That was prolly the most fun I have had on a bike to date.
Overall I am very happy with the bike and how everything is working. The sand did do a number on my chain and it made me realize I need to add a guide in front of the sprocket so I bought a stock banshee/warrior chain guide and will welding a mount on the swingarm for it shortly. With the chain stretching from getting worn by the sand (i should have oiled it) it was starting to slap the bottom of the swingarm so I am gonna put a lighter spring on my tensioner and in conjunction with the guide it should ride further away from the swingarm.

Just a little update. I ended up finding a Kenda Front Max to replace the front tire. Nothing really else done to it lately. Just been enjoying it and riding it a bunch. So glad I tuned it correctly with an AFR gauge it starts easily and runs so good. The cold weather hasn't affected its ability to start and run at all.

Finally found a new, exact fit, aftermarket front brake caliper for the bike. Was on Ebay and noticed someone was selling 81-84 250r calipers listed as new and snagged one immediately. Doesn't come with the caliper bracket but luckily I already had one from an OEM used caliper I bought but ended up being seized up and useless. The listing showed it was black but it showed up as silver which is a bonus cuz I wanted silver anyways. Its nice to finally have working brakes front and rear.
Went with a 32" steel braided brake line from Streamline and a Yamaha grizzly/kodiak right hand brake master which also comes with a brake switch so I can add brake lights when I get to that point. It stops great now and I can quit using my rear brakes as much haha.

Just a little update. Haven’t done much to it but ride it haha. Ended up laying it over and cracking the fender at the dunes one day so I Ritchie’s that with zip ties. Not really worried about it the fender was dry rotted real bad and I planned on getting another Maier fender eventually. They want $300 for a rear fender now, ugh. Got tired of looking at the “temporary” headlight bracket I made rusting away so I cleaned it up with a wire wheel and rounded the corners off. Hit those, the headlight mounts, and the gas cap with some black chassis epoxy. I’d like to make a better light setup but don’t have a lot of time these days haha.

It looks great. How's the ride?
It’s rides really good. The yz shock really needs a rebuild so it’s a little floaty in the back. I rode 11 miles today and my back isn’t sore at all which is what the intended goal was. To have a bike that I can trail ride all day and not be all stove up afterwards but still handle decently well and it handles really well

Noticed yesterday my turning radius going left was way worse than turning right so I pulled the front end off today and made some adjustments to the steering stops. I had like a 1” gap between the tank and fork tube on one side and 1/2” on the other side. Not sure how I didn’t see that when I made the stops. Got it as close to the tank as I’m comfortable with. Turns much, much tighter now. Very happy

That clearance look just about perfect to me.
Hey guys, recently got a GoPro and decided to take a stroll through the neighborhood with the 185s to test out the mount and positioning. I threw it on YouTube if anyone cares to see/hear the bike in action. I am wearing a helmet.
