A 1984 atc 250r followed me home.

Hello 3ww, I picked this up yesterday it was a 300 mile 6 hour round trip. I have only had it running twice and only for a brief bit of time but it does start up and idle well. I plan to do a compression test and leak down test to start with. The largest problem that I have is the kick start slips. Is there a way to remedy this without splitting the cases? The manual seems to indicate no. I have had very little experience with 2 strokes so I'm sure there will be more stupid questions. I know it's rough but I'm very excited to have it. I have been looking for an air cooled 250r for a long time now.

Congrats on your find!

You will get a lot of help from people here.

If you want to remove any stickers that are not original and they are tearing when you try to remove them you can heat them up with a hair dryer and try . This has frequently worked for me . Sometimes they have to be pretty hot so be careful not to melt the fender.

How did you fix it? I'm planning on buying a entire kick start assembly then splitting the cases to install it. But I would be interested to hear what parts you had to replace.
